We have gone astray from our roots but our strength was that we were basically a meritocratic society when it comes to jobs.Dunno man, if we all did that we’d end up with a lot of truck drivers and nobody teaching the kids. Maybe that’s your jam, but I think there are some jobs that are undervalued but serve a necessary function in society.
Maybe those don’t include Hollywood writers, but I guess my valuation of someone’s worth doesn’t take into account their boss’s politics or preferences. Some folks are just trying to do a job and get paid well enough to live.
Unions and government intervention has turned a lot of jobs into socialistic jobs. If you’re a teacher, or a best boy grip for example then you make the same wage as every other best boy or teacher in the industry regardless of merit.
The bottom line is there are a few teachers who should be making 6 figures, some that earn their current salary and some that should be making minimum wage.
Pay should be based on merit, not your degree, lack there of or industry and job you chose.
