This machine gun was produced by France after WWI. I've crossed paths with two in Afghanistan in 10 yrs. Both are I believe from the Turkish contract in 7.9mm. Both feed from 15 or 30 rd feed strips from the side.
2019 find with still forward pistol grip and bipod attached.

2009 find in lesser condition. Missing forward PG, bipod, and charging handle (cleaning rod substitution)

Not bad for nearly a 100 yd machine gun. The Japanese used numerous Hotchkiss designs during WWII. The US used the M1909 Benet-Mercie LMG before WWI. Not many of these have survived time.

Would like to "like," but can't see the pretty pics!

I'm appealing to a higher authority.

You find the coolest stuff.

A miracle! I can see!

Nice find, CD. Any chance you'll be test driving either of them?
I was told we could have the M1922 that was found recently. Problem is getting it from that location down to mine now. Not sure if I could fire it for the following reasons even thou I do have some Turkish 7.9mm ammo.
1. Gun needs feed strips to work which don't think there is any with the gun.
2. Gun fires open bolt and auto only. Might be able to drop round in chamber and slam fire but not continuous.
3. Still need to inspect gun.

I’ve got some feed strips for 8mm Lebel. Not sure if you could modify them for 8mm Mauser, but I’ll mail you a couple of you want to try. They are brass and pretty malleable.

Thanks, let me get the gun first. The Lebel ones should be 24 rds for the same length as the 7.9mm 30 rd strip
