House Majority Whip Steve Scalise shot in VA

Not sure why, but I clicked the link and read it. He was able to say this:

Turning an attempted assassination into cheap partisan sniping is not only disgusting, it's dead wrong. Just because the gunman happened to be a Bernie Sanders supporter who hated Republicans doesn't mean he represents all Democrats, any more than a mass murderer who happens to be a Christian represents Jesus Christ.

...but not continue the logical thought that one shooter doesn't represent all gun owners.

And then:

The point is: He had no business being able to buy, own, and tote around an assault rifle and an automatic pistol.

And I'll admit I haven't followed the details, but I don't believe he bought, owned, or toted around either of those types of firearms.

While I won't question the actions of the two officers. I agree there was what seemed like a large amount of time before they took him out. It may have been they were not in a tactically advantageous spot or it may be any number of other reasons. I do think race, creed, gender of sexual orientation has nothing to deal with in this issue. I do question if the guys saying "shoot him" had been armed and shot him or if anyone of us had done it would the "praise" for their heroic actions been stated?

It isn't a matter of staying classy. The country is polarized and divided. People have started viewing those that are part of the "not them" as evil, as the enemy. We're past the point of any sort of reconciliation and into the realm of dehumanizing. It is a dangerous situation and a precursor to mass violence. MSNBC is just expressing via a corporate mouthpiece what many of their target audience is feeling. To them the Rs are their enemy who oppose everything they value in terms of their way of life.

As I and others have said, the peaceful path forward is Balkanization. This is nothing but another sign and symptom of this.

I did hear, yesterday I believe, on the radio, that Scalise's condition was upgraded from critical to serious.

Yep, once you dehumanize the targets, all sorts of violence become acceptable because you are simply attacking evil. So pepper spraying a girl wearing a MAGA hat, hitting someone in the head with a bike lock or shooting someone at a baseball practice are all acceptable, if not commendable.

The marxists are playing for keeps, as they have always done. If you ain't red, you're dead - that's how they operate.

I'm not exactly sure why they are so excited about wanting to impeach Trump...last I checked, if he goes, Pence steps in...and as far as "conservative" goes, Pence makes Trump look like a bear tossing frat girl during Mardi Gras.

So he just always walks around the park area with a rifle at that time of the morning for no reason? I could almost give 'me a break on a handgun but there is the thing I doubt he had a CHP since he was an IL resident (or even a non-resident from another states) so there is another doubt even though he had broken laws for years.

We really need a facepalm emoji!!!

James T. Hodgkinson, the gunman in last week’s anti-Republican shooting at a baseball field in Alexandria, Va., visited Bernie Sanders’ office before the shooting.

The Associated Press reports that Hodgkinson visited Sen. Sanders’ office and “was in email contact with the two Democratic senators from his home state.”

The gunman’s home state was Illinois, meaning the two Democratic senators he was in email contact with were Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin.

Sanders previously condemned Hodgkinson when he learned he had volunteered on his campaign for president.
