How far will they go?

It is a real post!!! Amazing isn't it? OK, all, I'm not going to shoot outside in the woods! I get it! Calm..... I won't even mention what my gun is, for fear I'll get banned, shunned, or worse! I'll go to the nearest range once I can get away from the house..promise!
Don't worry, no one here is going to laugh at your gun. At least not until you have been around a while and we get to know you. Then all bets are off.
Seriously, though, the folks you will meet here are much more obsessed with gun safety than the gun itself, and that is a very good thing. There may have been a bit of over reaction at first, mainly because folks didn't know you were a true newbie. Give us a chance and you will find the denizens of this forum to be as helpful and knowledgeable as you will find anywhere.

And, good luck on your CC qualifying course!

Thanks! I've appreciated all the input from everybody. I do take this seriously. And I'm going to shoot the crap out of those targets! Then I hope the classroom part isn't too tough! By the end of the month I'll have the stuff to take to the sheriff, then begins the long wait for the permit....sigh...

Wait time seems to depend on the county one lives in. Usually pretty quick these days though.

Can I shoot mice then?
How could you look at those big eyes and ask that? LOL Sometimes when the weather turns I will get one or two in my basement. I catch them in live traps and free them in the woods. Maybe I have been putting them out in your woods.

I bet you have, because we have plenty of mice!

When I bush hog my field I carry my .38 with bird shot for just that reason. Although its mostly rats.
Eewww! How do you get birdshot in a .38? Didn't know you could do that....

I use .410 rounds and just squeeze 'me a bit.

They make plastic cups that you fill with shot and they go in place of the bullet.

You can buy them all ready loaded, just ask for rat shot for the .38

The classroom part is a piece of cake. Mostly law and basic firearm terminology. If you have a good instructor it can actually be enjoyable.
