A DI AR pistol won’t run with the stock/pistol grip folded, so does a short AR pistol with a folder still qualify an an AOW?

With a VFG, evidently yes. Being able to be concealed is the issue, not being able to be fired.

Or at least that’s how I read it.
 
I knew the vertical foregrip on a pistol was a NOGO, but never even thought about a folder.

Angled Foregrip still OK?

But if the pistol was over 26” OAL, it was just a firearm...so many thought a VFG was ok.

AFG still ok as far as I know. Wasn’t mentioned in that letter/article.

If I understand this the AOW thing kicks in if all of the following are true:

1) you have a pistol with a brace
AND
2) the brace is mounted with a folding mechanism
AND
3) the OAL while folded is under 26”
AND
4) you have a VFG installed.

Did I get that right? Nothing in my safe meets those criteria.

Or...

1) you have a pistol with a brace
AND
2) the OAL with brace removed (measured to the rear of the receiver extension/buffer tube) is <26”
AND
3) you have a VFG installed

I will say, the general consensus for quite awhile was a VFG was a no-go on an AR pistol.

The idea of it changing from a pistol to a firearm once it crossed 26” OAL wasn’t something I saw discussed until sometime in the last year, maybe even last 6 months.

Look at all the letters that have been written about the AR pistol/Brace. The only one that counts to the ATF/NFA is the last one written. All others are now toilet paper. I use to think the brace was the way to go but now I’ll just spend the cash on a SBR and pay the 200. Take the pistol and make it a rifle or buy a barrel long enough to make it 0ver 27. Then I will have a little room to play with.
 
I’m somewhat confused. If I do not have a vertical forward grip am I good to go regardless of length?

Don't be confused...it's simple.

"to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;" That's our job.
How are you going to do your duty as Citizen Militiamen, without proper arms?

This is all just prognostication. ATF can opine all it wants, but until it gets to the courts it means little.

Now, can we round up the letter writers and punch them in the throats and kick them in the nuts? I swear its being done by idiots only some of which are anti gun.
