I found this video to score quite well in the humor category.

I always found the hyped up looks of Harley riders entertaining when they're thinking a hotrod Harley was coming down the road was funny. Loved to see the look of dismay and utter disappointment when they saw my KTM RC8R with Akrapovic exhaust came thumping down the road. That thing was dangerously loud though, like helicopter loud. Would have to ride with earplugs for any long distance rides.

The thing that annoys me more then the loud exhaust is the idiots that ride around with a radio turned up so loud they rival a marching band.

My bike is Honda quiet. Years ago a buddy and I were screaming op 221 towards Grandfather MTN on our sportbikes with aftermarket pipes. We came around a curve and a State Trooper was standing in the middle of the road. He was stopping traffic for a storage building being moved. He walked over to us and said, "Boys, I could hear you coming all the way up the mountain. You boys need to slow down." Since then, I run in stealth mode!

...and always playing some stupid '70s radio crap.

I love me some loud pipes tho. It might be annoying to you cagers but getting run't over is an even bigger pet peeve of mine. I might be invisible dammit but they're gonna hear me coming.

    Two types of motorcycle riders:

Those that like to ride motorcycles.

Those that like to be seen riding motorcycles.

But they don't know which direction the sound is coming from since your pipes point out the back.

    Motorcycle Owners
    Motorcycle Riders

What's funny about that is that absolutely nothing sounds like a common crankpin, pushrod 45* v-twin with that goofy-assed 315* firing interval. Not saying that's a good thing or a bad thing, just that it's not real difficult to tell the difference between a modern, high performance 60*, 75* or 90* twin & a 19th century tractor motor. So many Johnny-come-lately, pirate dressing sidewalk commandos who think they're experts on all things H-D. Idiots give true scooter trash a bad name.

I was hiking in the Smokies 10+ years ago...the end of our hike was at Clingmans Dome. It was a brutal climb back up to the parking lot. It started raining on top of being sore and just wanting to be home. We knew we were near the end when we could hear the reverberating disruption of the peace and quiet, echoing through the trees and slopes. As others have mentioned the occasional stereo could be heard laced in with the exhaust.

The other recent motorcycle thing that I think is flat out stupid is the strobing headlight. I can’t tell what coming but it’s going to give me a seizure.

Yup, cars have better sound insulation so even if the rider uses the horn you may not hear it until it is too late.
Same for Rev Bombing, that removes power from the rear wheel.

I've got the same set of horns. They were my wife's idea, she said the stock horn was a pussy horn. Who am I to argue?

Part of the problem is where this happened. Hamilton Pool Road leads to Hamilton Pool, a few miles west of Austin Texas. Fair weather riders who have more money than sense.

    All groups have their ones.
Kid in Lexington rolls around on his gsx-r and feels the need to bounce off the rev limited often.
Some harley guys want to rev constantly too.

There's good sounding pipes, and loud sounding pipes. They're not the same thing.

I see/hear far too many bikes that are straight up dangerously loud. I've had harley queers fly by me on the interstate and leave me with my ears ringing, and I had my windows up. Your right to make make noise so loud it causes hearing loss may start with your ears, but it ends at mine.

If you need to be as loud as a shotgun and have flashing strobe headlights to cruise on the highway, do the rest of the world a favor and stick to 4 wheels. Maybe bikes aren't for you.

I always have earbuds in with music going when I'm on the bike. I can't hear your loud pipes!
