How Much is Enough

I grabbed an new hatchet a while back. Going to buy an axe this week I think. I’ve got most of what I need, but filling in some gaps. I have gas and electric chainsaws and tools, but if energy keeps going where it is using a hand tool makes sense a lot of times. I could use a few more hand saws, and maybe a few more small gardening tools.
Kinda want a Carpenter’s Brace (drill) as well…

Good call. I should call my FIL He sold his house and moved into an apartment. He probably owns every tool made from 1960 until today. He has a barn and few a acres in the country. Maybe I should offer to help clear out his stash? He has reached the point he cannot do what he used to do.

Another useful human powered drill is an old school hand drill like my Grandpa used even after electric drills became more common …

They were selling more modern versions of those when I was a kid. My dad had an electric drill, but I’d use that hand crank job for little projects when I was a kid in the 60’s.

Hopefully you still have it ‘cause I know it would still being working now ... and even another 40-50-60 years down the road.

Sadly, gone a long time ago. We didn’t envision the end of the world when dad died in ’95 and I cleared out his shop.

Carpenter's brace too, that came in Sears tool sets. We NEVER used them.

Might be a good plan for me to hit up the antique mall up here this week. Lots of tools there for reasonable $

Damn great idea. Forgot about one nearby that has a whole section of tools. Always checked out the hammers, but bet they have some…

Grandfather had a push drill, wish I still had it.

I've got any hand tool I could get from my Great G-father, G-father and dad.
Cane blade from Germany of my Great G-father
Multitube axes, hatches, handsaws, bow saws, buck saw, drills, metal and wood body planes, etc.
All sharp and still usable, no electricity required.
I hope one of my G-kids will take an interest in them.

That's light weight numbers my friend. 5k won't cover my reloading components

In the end the answer to the OPs question is whatever you can afford and what you feel comfortable with.

I don't give 2 f*&ks how much ammo you have. As for what I have I have enough factory ammo to shoot at my normal pace for 5-6 years without buying another round. I have enough reloading supplies the ones that count primers and powder to go for another 5-6 after that. I still poach thinks here and there to keep the levels were I want them. I won't pay the going rate but if I find low hanging fruit I pick it. My goal is always to stay above 5 years on each side. If figure if I can't adapt in a decade I will have bigger things to worry about than my ammo stash.

Of course it is clear my joke has hit a nerve and got your panties in a bind. You do realize memes are meant as jokes. Maybe not. LMAO

You need to
