How should I transport 2 handguns in a pickup truck to get to the range?

I wish NC had a concealed ass law. Im about tiring of seeing sagging pants and peoples bare asses. It offends me.

But in New York City:

For what you described this. Get a cheap 3 or 4 number luggage lock and use it. Put the bag on the rear passenger side (or passenger side if your have a single cab) farthest from your reach. IF you are stopped just act calm and normally. Since they would be unloaded, locked up and out of reach you are fine and do not need to even inform the LEO unless asked directly. Now that is for LEO interaction ... for scumbag thugs try not to stop and leave your vehicle unattended or smash and grabs are possible. Sure stop and fill up with gas, pull through the drive thru for a burger but DO NOT go for lunch and leave 'em in an area where hood rats can see a bag (they think camera, gun or other stuff of value) for a smash and grab theft.

Even when you get your CHP, do the same thing. If I am stopped I show my CHP and say I am exercising my right ... never say gun, firearm, etc. I only mention what I am carrying not what is UNLOADED and SECURELY LOCKED in my TruckVault in the back. If asked if there are any others I will say yes but they are unloaded and secured in the back. Never listed out what is back there. 99.44% of the time LEOs once you have informed and presented your CHP and ID aren't looking to nitpick things (unless you are behind enemy lines like D.C., MD, NJ, etc) so don't sweat it.

I'm going to have a TRUCK VAULT in my next vehicle. Not only a great place to transport, store and lock up your weapons, you can stack stuff on top just like it wasn't there.

Thanks, was thinking the trigger locks would lock it away but I like locking them in case instead.

In a bag or "box" behind the seat is concealed. Must be inaccessible to all in the vehicle or locked away. Gun bag with zippers and a lock thru the zipper is locked away. A plastic pistol case with a lock is locked away. Due to the muddiness and or outright stupidity of how the NC General statutes are written, a pistol laying in plain view on the seat next to you is legal. Not advisable but legal. Also, once you have your CCP it only applies to you. If a pistol is concealed in the vehicle and accessible to a passenger who does not have a CCP, you both may have a problem. Note that in NC a CCP only applies to handguns. Long guns must always be in plain view, locked away or inaccessible.

Been thru a traffic stop with my cowboy rig, with both guns holstered, sitting in front seat beside me. Four long guns, two shotguns and two rifles, in the back seat. Whole bunch of NCHP and local Leo's, nobody batted an eye.
