How's THIS for a crappy morning?

Done with the taxes today and yes, taxation is theft.
I am thankful that my father is out of the hospital after two weeks at the VA hospital in Asheville and three weeks at Duke University Hospital. I told my mother that I would never fuss about my Federal taxes for the care that my father received. He may not be out of the woods yet, but I'm hoping he can see a clearing ahead.

She is not certain that the stories we’re hearing are accurate, and like many young people has little ability to evaluate risk.

The Lord watches over fools and drunks!

I hope all ends well. My neighbor’s daughter decided to go to India alone for 3 months and learn meditation and yoga.

Even after her stay in the hospital complete with intravenous antibiotics and fluids she still is staying. And I thought I was an idiot when I was that age. Kids these days make me feel like a genius.

Oh, and I’d bet she is correct. It is likely much worse.

Daughter had the stomach bug over the weekend and was not feeling great this morning and still weak and not eating or drinking much so let her stay at moms today to rest got a call she was going to er at lunch because dr thought she was dehydrated still since she was so weak and sleeping so much and didnt want to take chances since she is pretty young still. Wife takes her to the er they gave her oj and few crackers and sent her home. Still think she was dehydrated but thankfully feeling much better and more perky but man that was a expensive cup of orange juice and crackers.

I had a pretty good morning compared to several already noted.
Drove 4+ hours yesterday so I could personally meet with a client who somehow thinks my employer is still responsible for the missing equipment he signed for but can't find yet.
I'm sure the 4 month lead time for replacing one of the line items has him in a tizzy, especially since they want to open the hotel before then.
He's been a downright bully to my installers, so when he looked at me this morning and said "after I handle this other issue, can you walk the storage locations for those parts?" I looked back at him, then my cane and said "that's not what I'm here for. I'm here because you wanted representation from my employer. The cane says no."
Not a peep from the bully.
I was a bit apprehensive, but enjoyed the crap out of that.
One more meeting tomorrow...

I'll raise your crappy Morning.
They just eliminated four people that I work with.
One for over 35 years. Another for over 30.
Like losing family.:(
Companies tend to cut the older employees first. They are usually the highest paid. Age discrimination is impossible to prove in court even if 100% of the people laid off are over 50.

At least you got to do it yourself.
It's even better when you have to explain the screw up and you had no part in it.
Off my head/over the years...
-Mud all over the lady's new white berber carpet, $2000
-Left off the neutral to the new Pepsi machine at wal mart, smoked the machine, $3500
-Left the upstairs bedroom window open, allowing the rain to come through it for 2 days. $2800
-Ran the trencher across the buried NG line, resulting in a 20 foot flame shooting out of the ground and a melted trencher. $5000
-Drunk technician in company van backs into lady's car in parking lot, tries to get away but the lady catches him before he does. $1800

I don't work for that company anymore.

first 24 hours without dogs.
yesterday, we put down our 17 year old.
had three. she lasted the longest.

MIL fell 12 days ago, broke shoulder. Came home 5 days later. Friday night, back in hospital. Bad UTI, shocked liver, were looking at possible kidney failure, now probable metastasized cancer (to brain). Looking at taking her back home and getting hospice. Total chaos, wife has slept in a bed 2 of those 12 nights. That’s just the high spots. The Lord is good, He is our rock, but that doesn’t mean life never sucks sometimes.

My wife has walked this road with her mom, who is at peace now. A prayer is up, sir.

Just got a letter from my nephew today raising dough for a trip to Australia for six months with the same organization. He’s a good kid, and his mom, my baby sis, is the best. I think I’m gonna help him out.

YWAM is a great group. Not perfect, but great. You could do worse supporting them, and he could do worse working with them.

In the small world department, he's at the same small WNC college campus as mine 45 years ago, with the same length hair. The more things change the more they stay the same.

They sent Lauren home early. They used lots of "spiritual" language to say "she is not regenerate, or does not seem to be, and there is real evil on the streets of San Francisco. We are willing to send out kids and go ourselves and trust in God to protect us, but it is unwise to go out there without God."

This was the beginning of Lauren's realization that knowing all the right words is dramatically different than a personal relationship with God. I guess all of us have to take that journey. This one wound up very good. Here is the best to your nephew!

Better to learn that lesson early. No group is perfect and group-think is pervasive. Still, if I had to pick a group with which to align myself, YWAM is better than so many others.

Their publishing arm puts out some great books, especially their biographies. My kids had to read a lot of them for school. I read along with them and wound up reading almost their entire series, both historical figures and missionaries. It was great.

Well damn, I got up, went to the shop, turned on the cowboy channel, made me a sammich, got me a beer, and then proceeded to do nothing the rest of the day.

Tomorrow, I’m going to the range for a couple hours, then come home and repeat today. Oh, I need to buy more beer.
By now you've heard our buddy has a contract on his house. I has a sad.

You've earned it. None of us begrudges you your life. We would like to go shooting with you on occasion, though. And help you drink that beer.

Yeah, he called me last week before they headed west for 2 weeks. I hate it but understand the need to be with ailing parents.

Tell me when! I’m game to shoot anytime and beer afterwards!

I actually worked my ass off the last 2 days! Putting siding on an out building and getting ready to pour concrete. Mowed the pastures yesterday and pulled the old fence from around the pool. Tomorrow I AM going to go shooting and drink beer afterwards! If I don’t finish that siding. :D

Well, I did go shooting this morning! Still didn’t finish the siding job but I’ve got to have something to do tomorrow!

It seems like thg is a monthly deal with me. Did that to my wife’s new car. My car. And my company car. All within a year. Inshould work for a tire company or something. Or buy a horse.
I always do a walk around while I'm getting gas. I saw this today. There's a tire shop just up the street. I'll go there later this morning and get it plugged.

Good luck- I have one just like it that isnt leaking and is stable for now, I think the screw is aluminum and wearing down quickly. Sometimes the shops will look at that location and tell you they wont plug or patch that close to the shoulder or sidewall.

Discount Tire will patch/plug them for free whether you bought the tire from them or not. They're not in Conway though. :(

I got a new company car a couple months ago. Within a week I had a flat. The tire guy asked me where I was driving. I told him no where special. I40, 64 etc. He said that I had the largest bolt he’d ever seen in a tire before. Bolt? How’d I do that?
