According to http://john1911.com/hudson-mfg-failing-classic-firearms-pm-63-disaster-fab-defense/, people have not heard from them since December.

@frmr0103 <- think that was his forum name. Numbers might be wrong.

I doubt he is answering questions on behalf of the company, so I wouldn’t pressure the man, but that should be his forum name.

From what I understand it is the same story told a million times. Company has a great product after spending millions in design. Company hires great people to oversee all aspects of the production and sale of the excellent product.

Oweners of the company start spending the money hand over fist as it starts to roll in on themselves assuming that they will never have hard times again.

Said excellent employees get asked to take massive pay cuts and then go a couple of months with no paycheck at all while owners still living high off that old hog.

Employees see the writing on the wall and bail. Company goes under.

Sad because they really had developed something that could have made the long haul.

Yeah, I think I saw where Frmr has left Hudson. I really am bummed by this, the company going down that is, because I really liked their products concept and was looking forward to whatever else they came out with.

It was an interesting concept.

A hybrid of a Glock and 1911.

Shocking.....back when they first started making all those waves on the interwebz, I said to myself “that’s not gonna last long”. They went under quicker than I even expected..

Now they are “collectible” :p

It sounds like really bad news without any bullshit sugar coating. I like their style and if they survive I'll make an effort to become a customer.

putting all the lotion in one basket generally never works out for startups. They should've went on Shark Tank and asked Mark Cuban for the money

Thats two companies who I know of that made pretty awesome firearms products that folded. Pretty sad. I wonder if it is hubris? I have this great product so I should be able to manage a company that is all about it.

You are giving me flashbacks! Only difference is that one day I walked into the office to find out the owner was the one who bolted, leaving me and the investor to deal with an office full of gear and me without a paycheck.

I see it as a lack of long term business acumen. A product is just that, a product. A company can be built around a product, but there aren’t many noteworthy single-product companies out there... in fact not a single one is coming to mind. You have to have a product line and an innovation pipeline, or an acquisition plan (acquire or be acquired).

Actually Carmex has over 3 dozen different products including different flavors, a “natural” line, and different form factors. Tootsie roll owns a dozen different brands including Andes mints, blow pop, dots, double bubble, junior mints and more. But even tootsie rolls come in different sizes and in tootsie pops. It would be like Hudson offering a std, compact, sub compact, and competition model.

Precisely what would happen if I ran the company. Fist time I'm flush with a couple hundred G's, it would be an epic digression:
911 GT3
Les Baer BBQ gun
fancy stripper girls
too much yayo
become addicted to gambling on boxing/horses and hanging out with rappers
downward spiral into a 25 to life sentence

I think I’d be set with the first 2. GT3 is one of my dream cars! #3 sounds good but is also an oxymoron haha

...which were slated to come in the future...just how tootsie pop started with one treat, and carmex started with one product...and then thereafter expanded. Point being, a lot of companies start out as one hit wonders, and then diversify...if the survive long enough. Hudson, unlike the rest, did not.

Oh ok. Didn’t know they had plans to expand the line. I never really looked into them much as I’m not a $1k pistol kind of guy.

Well, to be fair, I don't have a line on their entire business plan (which apparently they didn't either...) so, who knows.

That's a shame. I was very interested in their handgun, and hoped to own one eventually. Look's like that's not happening. :D

I kinda figured something was happening.

Day 1 - H9 $1199ish
Day 180 - H9 $799ish

These numbers are probably off some but you get the point. You don’t start having resellers hit these bottoms dollar numbers unless your going out or trying to keep a float.

I always wondered why they even bothered adding the accessory rail. It would be the most awkward thing in the world to use a WML on that pistol........

I never shot one, but from those I’ve talked to about them they are very sweet shooters. As far as looks, I liked them.

I never shot one, but it really felt good to hold. (That's what she said)

The second generation was going to have different sights, and an alloy frame. I personally preferred the weight of the original all steel frame.
