Hughesnet

Expensive, long lags, quick to throttle you even when staying within your quotas. That's what I've heard. Haven't used it. In some places it's the only choice.

It’s my only option out in the sticks where I live. We added another device to our Verizon family plan so my oldest would have an emergency phone for when she goes out or is home before we get home, and we use it as a hotspot for the tablets in the house. We have even streamed Netflix on cellular data to a HDMI dongle to the big screen and it worked great.

Hughesnet can suck it.

My brother moved to Havelock, where there's no dsl/cable internet. He tried Hughesnet, said it was horrible. Now he pays $200/month to get internet through his cell-phone.

I was going to try it when I lived briefly in a spot with no service. I had it hooked up and before I even used it I got to thinking that I would move soon and be stuck with it so I canceled the service within the grace period.

They made it difficult to return the equipment and even after it was done I kept getting my card charged $5 a month. I would dispute the claim and get the money back but the next month it would hit again. The number to the bills went to a California answering machine with the message box full.

I ended up having to cancel the card to stop getting billed every month.

It beats nothing. That's the best I can say. We have it and DSL. DSL wins, but just barely.
