I usually either smoke cigars at my in laws or if I’m at my house I’ve been buying them individually at the tobacco shops in the area. I recently ordered a box of Jose L. Piedras and decided I wanted something to house those in. I ended up with an acrylic jar humidifier and Boveda packs. My question is the Boveda pack and humidor are here. Would it be fine to place the pack inside the humidor while I wait for the cigars to arrive or should I place the pack in there at the same time as the cigars?

Also I have read that the humidor should be store in an area that is fairly consistent in humidity as well as temperature. My father in law stores his in their study which is a room they don’t access as frequently as others. Would I need to store it in a closet, bedroom? I assume not in the kitchen or living room since the temperature changes slightly in those rooms?

If you are using an acrylic humidor, you gain nothing by humidifying it now. However, I would recommend getting some pieces of Spanish cedar (which is really in the mahogany family) and line the jar (from empty cigar boxes). Then put the humidification device in. It will serve to bring the cedar up to humidity, which will then help get and keep the cigars at the proper humidity.

Don't overthink the location. Just don't put them in an overheated area or in direct sunlight.

Enjoy.

Air tight container and boveda packs make it a pretty brainless task, they do all the work for you.

As far as location, as long as it’s not directly in front of a window or HVAC vent you’re pretty much good to go.

Also +1 on the cedar, it will help keep humidity level more stable when you open and close the humidor.

Thanks for the input as well. Guess I was over thinking the placement of the humidor. I liked that I’d be able to display the cigars a little in the jar but didn’t want to put them somewhere that would effect them.
