I enjoy watching the little hummingbirds. They are wide open all of the time. Earlier, we had 3 of them dive bombing each other and then they would stop for a drink and go right back at it. At one time, 2 were on the feeder and 1 was on a flower.

I saw one at my feeder the other day, figure more will be showing up in the weeks ahead.

My grandfather absolutely loved hummingbirds, so always was around feeders and looking at them.

Really incredible little things, only bird that can fly backwards too!

I gotta remember to make a batch of sugar water for my feeders, I haven't had anything out for them since warm weather set it.

We put up three feeders a couple weeks ago but haven’t seen one yet.

Beautiful little things, but the missus terrified of 'em & hates them with a passion bordering on the pathological after a couple buzzed her on the front porch.

We've got one dumb one that wanders into our screened back, then gets trapped between the sun shade & the screen every now & again. After the first time I rescued & released it, it would just relax & let me catch it cupped in my hands on subsequent occasions. TINY little things. Weigh maybe a gram. They make the softest "tweet". Neat critters.

Mine did too. He went though a sack of sugar every week feeding them.

My mom usually hangs 6-7 feeders at her house during the summer. And she normally has 40-50 hummingbirds. What I’ve learned about them is they love rain. If you ever want to know close to how many you actually have, watch them when it’s drizzling rain. Store bought food and homemade with red food coloring is bad for them. Their food doesn’t need to be red to attract them. I think she mixes a half cup of sugar per 2 cups water. Which is double what everyone says to mix but they must like it because of the numbers she’s gets every year. Clean feeders often, if the mix turns milky looking it’s bad, throw it out, wash the feeder and make more. Mom doesn’t have anything much to do these days so this is her summertime fun. During peak she’ll use 10lbs of sugar weekly on them.

We always put out two or three hummingbird feeders. My wife makes the juice. It's not red. She told me red's not necessary. Or not good. Not something.

I probably wasn't paying enough attention to that detail to register. Last year I was standing on the porch and a hummingbird flew up and hovered about four inches from my nose staring at me for five or six seconds. That was pretty cool. My nose wasn't red. So I guess she's right.

We just noticed we’ve trumpet honeysuckle growing on the woods around our home. I looked it up and they bloom from now until frost and humming birds apparently love them. From what I read they do well in hanging baskets and you can grow more from cuttings.

This place is a trip, the woods are full of wild blueberries, wild elaeagnus, black walnut, and other plants I have yet to identify.

A neighbor fellow hung this feeder for us right before we got here. We did bring 2 feeders with us. He had the store bought feed mix but we're switching to just sugar and water. We change out the sugar water at least once a week, more often when it's real hot outside.

We've got 3 feeders hang in from the deck that have got business early morning and later in the evenings. My wife is recovering from surgery so she sits and watched em whenever the weather allows.
