not sure when it happened, but saw it mentioned on ARFCOM today:

http://www.huntertownarms.com/ now shows:

Due to ongoing softness in the suppressor market, Huntertown Arms is ceasing operations. Upgrades, production of all models, direct sales, and repairs are halted. If your suppressor is currently being upgraded or repaired, it will be completed and returned to you. For all who have supported our products over the past eight years, we thank you.

Which companies seem soft right now?

Ones that look stable:
Q, Dead Air, Rugged, TBAC, AAC, Griffin, Gemtec

I think you have to get your name out in social media, guys like Pappas promotes Dead Air pretty good.

I think you missed the king of social media...Silencerco.

I’m not perfect, you know this from the short time you’ve known me.
Well, the fact of the matter is SiCo is the hipster king of social media...so much so that they might actually be considered soft (by some) on their product line. Wasn't sure if you intentionally left them off the list or not.

I saw this on their site the other day. The only reason I looked at their site was because of a DSG email I received with some crazy low prices on some cans I vaguely remember hearing about in the past.

Even for $200 there was nothing impressive enough to make me jump, so I can't imagine why anyone would buy their cans at regular prices. Not surprised they're shutting down.

Not to mention TERRIBLE customer service.

More market share for the big guys and that's what they want. What I want is OTC sales of their products with no tax stamp or waiting period. Nobody was ever killed by a suppressor unless they were beat to death with one.

I would expect to see a good number of the suppressor manufacturers that "popped up" the first 7 months of 2016 to cease operations.

My first can was an HTA 22 version. So far it's been fine, but then again it's just a 22.

Here's a diversion. . . if a manufacturer is the only person who can manufacture replacement parts, what happens when that manufacturer is gone? Can an individual "make" (not manufacture) the replacement in this case?

Let's NOT write ATF on this issue... it's offered purely for internet speculation and lawyering.

Can't any mfg make the parts or do the repair? As long as the serialized section doesn't need replaced, I would think you're good.

That SOUNDS right. It's not just THE manufacturer but any licensed manufacturer.

Then again this is the ATF so making sense often is not a consideration.

You’d have to talk to Stalking Rhino.
