Hunting bullet

Killed many deer with Nosler accubond in my 25/06 and 308. 115gr & 165 gr do work. Hits hard and expands great. Very accurate out of the 2 hunting rifles I shoot them in. I haven’t killed a deer with the new eldx hornady but it seems nice and accurate too.

Berger hunting VLD are awesome. Match grade accuracy and swapping between hunting and match bullets has zero change of in poi.
I'm a Berger fan, the VLD's ROCK. They can be ornery in some rifles, their Hybrids performance is supposed to perform the same, yet will work in more rifles and magazines. I'll try Hybrids when I'm out of VLD's.
Like powder, if you have multiple calibers PAY ATTENTION, and mark the boxes.

I have harvested more deer with 7mm Speer Hot-Cor Spitzers than anything else.

I'm a fan of Nosler also, but I have killed more deer with plain ol cup/core or softpoints than any fancy or expensive projectile. With the exception in .223/5.56. I use Nosler bonded solid base bullets and TTSX depending on the range I'm hunting at.

I’ve probably shot more deer with a JSP then anything else over the years but since I’ve started rolling my own I’ve been using a 150gr Hornady SST in my 30-06 and had good results. They’ve been accurate for me and the deer always end up dead.

Hornady Interlock 165g SPBT #3045 at 2800ish FPS....here is why.....

Low Country SC. 6 PM, 2 Nov 17. 125 yards. Merkel K3, 3006 Hand load. Double lung. Excellent blood trail for two feet he walked after taking it through and through broadside.

Gonna be trying out a 62gr Barnes TTSX soon in 223; previously used Power Points and ave shot one with a 77gr TMK...worked well.

I’ve used .30 cal Nosler Partitions and Ballistic Tips with great success

I haven't tried them yet but I somehow ended up with a box of them for my 44.
Those require trimming brass to a specific length which is shorter than SAAMI specs. Hence why I dont bother with em. My 44 is a 100yd max gun for hunting and a 240gr XTP obliterates deer at 1600fps

I did not know that and now I'll have to look into that further. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah I have heard it's fine to crimp it in other places besides the groove with a Lee FCD so you don't need to trim, but I just avoid it altogether. Last thing I want is a bunch of shorty brass.

For over 40 yrs Sierra Game Kings and Hornady Interlocks have been killing everything they hit...from woodchucks to elk & black bear.
HOWEVER, I did play the "high end" bullet game with Nosler/Berger/Woodleigh about 20 yrs ago for a couple yrs and got no better results, so went back to most affordable, just as deadly, "low end" bullets.
Critters just don't care if its high or low end that goes into their boiler room!

LBT WLN. Mold modified by HP mold service for Cramer pin set up. 525gr solid, 490hp when cast 80/20 coww to soww. From my 500 Linebaugh it kills anything DRT.

Corelokt has been piling em up for decades. 440 yards with 150 CL in 308.

In all fairness, most things I hit with a car die too. LOL 525 gns!!!!!

Put a few caribou and sheep down with partitions in .308 no complaints. The 168 Hornady Amax is very accurate and explosive on deer sized things.

I prefer the S&B 110 gr PTS in 6.8 for deer. Just got some 105 gr MKZ CBB to load.
I preferred the old Winchester 150 gr Silvertips in my .308.

In all reality, the bullet that shoots best in whatever gun you use.

Accuracy is of utmost importance and shot placement is king.

It's not hard to kill a deer.

(and the truth be known I'd rather have a bullet that pokes two holes, then I would have one that blows all the meat to kingdom come)

By looking at the nontapering jacket design I have to ask how well it expands?
It has killed, dead, every deer it has hit and that is a bunch.
I'm not concerned with expansion.

The hard lead bullets out of my 357, 44mag, 45/70 don't expand but they kill dead too.

I went hunting and forgot target bullets were in the mag, 130g Sierra Matchking in a 7-08, I shot an 8pt broadside and the bullet exploded on contact, penetrated ~8”. I put my fist in the hole without touching the sides, flesh and ribs vaporized. It ran a long time before expiring.
