Here we are again.. Dorian has some possibilities for us, somewhere, sometime.

Do you remember what you learned last year? Remember where you left off building up or restocking your preps?
New in town?

Better get your ass in gear and yer shit together.

Yeah they are saying up to 17 named storms this year, with 4-6 major hurricanes

It was also said it could be a historical year as far as hurricanes.

August is supposed to be somewhat mild then September things are supposed to go sideways.

I'm not ready!
I finally got sheet rock finisher started Monday... 3 days ago!
New foundation, new roof, new walls & ceilings.
I won't mind if Dorian skips Wilmington!

Isn’t that what they, whoever they are, say every year?

Started last week touching up. Not quite ready as I'd like yet. I'm ready for a gap like we had before 1996.

well, we bought an electric start generator this year.
our "pull" ones still run great, but it's a shoulder situation.

I find it insane that the government has to tell people to get ONE WEEK of supplies on hand and then there is a mad buying rush to get this accomplished! I have always felt that the statement "because people are stupid!" explains almost all human behavior but apparently it is possible to even carry stupid too far!

The only thing I am low on is fuel for generator. But I always re-supply every August, (use it the mowers all year) so today I will do that and be set.

Edit: I do generator tests every three months and had to use generator two weeks ago do to power outage. So it is ready also.

Everyone runs for water and waffles, but hardly anyone remembers to trim back trees that could fall on their house.

Which reminds me. I have a tree that needs to be felled.

Historically, there has never been recorded flooding where I live, which isn't to say it couldn't happen, but high winds could knock down some of these extremely old trees around here.
During Hugo, according to the locals, lots of our roads looked like forests.

Hugo was God’s chainsaw for much of eastern SC and parts of NC!!! This is what most of Francis Marion National Forest looked like after it passed!

Having moved here in 1995, I'd like to experience that gap too. (I closed on my new home, two weeks before Fran)

I was lucky enough to be in Germany when it hit, but I've heard the stories. At the time, my extended family was living in eastern Rowan county near High Rock lake, and the pics from there looked like a war zone. It was nearly a week before we could even get someone on the phone to make sure they were ok.

I wonder why they send trucks full of sand, another full of bags and the locals have to fill the bags with the sand,
would be easier to ship pallets of sand already in the bags.

I have two 12W solar panels to recharge batteries, have four cars at home, full tanks of gas,
larger 100W panel to keep battery charged and that runs the in house fiber internet AT&T gear
so we have phone and internet. Also small 1KW Generac and 8KW Generac if needed.

Stopped at our local Ingles to pickup a few things on our way home last night. There were two well dressed women ahead of us at the checkout, and didn't have a Ingles card, and the checker realized it would save them some money, and asked if they could scan mine. They were from West Palm Beach, and were in Asheville to escape the hurricane. They bought so much we got 20¢ per gallon in bonus points just from their purchase.
