I’m almost afraid to do this again, but I think there’s a Winston Gun Show this weekend

If I get to go, I’ll have a 7 1/2” 44mag Redhawk and a 1917 Winchester 94 Saddle Ring Carbine, 30 WCF.

Anybody going?

C&E? After the email back and forth from them about my disappointment with the Concord show, I'll never darken the door of one of their shows again.
what was it?

I’m hoping to go...have a little pocket money and a few things I’d like to get.

CZ P01
CZ Scorpion
A Colt 1911

...not all of course...but one of em at least

what was it?
To C&E:

To whom it may concern, Wow. I mean WOW!! $9.00 EACH for my 13 year old daughter and myself to get in the show. $18.00 total just to walk in. And after that, I noticed that an entire HALF of the building was empty. The one half that was was, a good 40% of the sellers/tables were purses, candles, coins, jewelry, etc. (NON-Firearms related). This is unacceptable. This is ONE of the many reasons that the shows are dying out. I'd like a refund. Either $18 cash in an envelope, a check or send it paypal. If not, no big deal. I will not be attending another event by C&E and will make sure to post on social media about the quality of your shows anymore. A very unsatisfied customer.

From C&E:
Thank you for your feedback. I hate to hear that you were not happy with the show this weekend as we were up against the Ashville Gun Show and a lot of the vendors split between us and MK Shows. I do not have a way to do a refund but I would be happy to mail you a couple of free passes to attend any one of our gun shows and any location in the future. If you would be interested in the free passes please let me know and I will get those out to you today.

My reply:
I think I'll just pass. It seems more and more the show admission is going up, the shows are getting smaller, and there are too many vendors not selling firearms related merchandise. C&E shows are scratched off my list and Dixie ain't too far behind too.

From C&E:
I am sorry you feel that way.

My reply:
It's not how I "feel", it's a fact. You charged $9 for a person to get into a show that was just as much candles, cigars, coins and jerky then it was guns. This show at that location has been this way for a few years. Until a fair admission price is charged and some form of guarantee is placed that firearms related items are only sold, I'm out. And the sentiment with other shooters and collectors is growing.

From C&E:

We had 1 table with candles, we had a few with jerky and two gentleman with cigars. I feel sure that we are not the only gun show that puts other things into the show. We try to allow the women something to look at while they are there as well. We offer a wide variety of items for sale as do most gun shops. I have been to gun shops and stores and they have t-shirts, cigars, knives and several other items for sale as well. Good luck finding somewhere that sells only guns!

I just stopped right there. The show was a joke. And a good 1/4 to 1/3 oft what was on the tables was bullshit. She neglected to reply with the coin dealers, purse and wallet table, the decorative metal work table, and a few others. IDK, maybe I am in the wrong. But dammit, I pay for a gun show, I expect a gun show.

I am so sorry this has happened to you...

That’s the reason I’ll never go to another C&E show. They actually refunded me and my wife our admission charge, but this was quite a few years ago. Never been back. It was mainly a tee shirt and knife show with some snack tables and some odd metal signs for sale here and there. VERY little firearm related items offered. Also, if I recall about 1/4 to1/2 of the building was also empty. Shame not much has changed after I quite going.

Because women don’t look at, or buy, guns?

Dang...maybe it was good that I'm working this weekend, otherwise I probably would have attended and been disappointed :(

Just got back...

It wasn’t terrible...but that’s because I found what I wanted.

One ammo seller was offering pretty good deals...500 rounds of Barnaul .223 for $105, 7.62x39 for $100. Brass Gecco 9mm for $9 a box...again, not stellar, but good.

The $5 ammo can guy was there and I picked up two cans. Found my CZ P-01 for $600 so that made me happy. Only a few CZs in the house at all.

Plenty of polymer blasters, SIG P365s for 500+, any Glock model you can imagine, and most of the rest. I didn’t see any that were stupidly priced, so if you are after a standard poly pistol, then rock on.

A few holster makers, seemed decent stuff. Of course the massive table of Chinese optics and lights. There was one table selling Vortex stuff at what seemed like slightly high prices, but I know nothing about what “normal” would be.

Saw a guy in a scooter selling an SKS for $425...considered offering him $400 so it would save me from fees and stuff if I order one one day.

There were some knife sellers there, but I didn’t mind them because most of them looked pretty nice. Just one table covered in what looked like India made stuff.

If you are looking to do an AR build and want to not wait for shipping/taxes/transfer or whatever, End of the Line firearms was there selling uppers and lowers or a bit more than what you could order, which makes sense...they gotta eat too.

So, is it with the effort? If you are seeking hard to find boutique shooters, then probably not. If you want ammo and newer stuff and you want it >now< then yes. It’s worth it.

Far left side as you go in, up against the wall. Good dude. 5 for some, 6 for ones with painted stuff on them.

This show wasn't bad compared to the last few I've gone to that I would consider a complete waste of time. Plenty guns throughout, nothing really stellar as far as prices, but some decent deals around.

Wish i could go to grab a few ammo cans! Can't beat $5! I work 2 weekends a month, and i swear they always schedule gun shows when i work on purpose. :p

Went early this morning with my son, who is home for the weekend. Found some Mannlicher rounds, picked up 5 ammo cans, and a box of 303.... and this unusual SKS magazine. Anyone who can give me any info would be appreciated. Loved the show, but mostly because I won a $50 door prize shortly after I registered!20200307_165450.jpg

$7 a box no tax. Wasn’t a steal but it was within an arm’s reach

Yeah...by the time I got to him he only had 4 boxes left, if we are talking the same guy...in the back towards the right side. He is the one with 500 round cases for decent prices.

yeah, and your contact info is sold ! stopped turning in the blanks a long time ago....
Doesn't everyone have an email they don't use?
Actually, I’m here to tell you that’s not the case. I’m able to invent email addresses on the fly and do so whenever I suspect my information will be sold. As long as the address has my correct domain, I’ll receive it. For C&E, I used [email protected] (obviously not the real domain). All I’ve ever received at that address is invites to their shows. If they sold my address, I’d immediately recognize it.

I’m a member of the Smith and Wesson Collectors Association. With them, my email address is [email protected]. When that address began receiving emails from gun auction houses, it was apparent either SWCA had sold the mailing list or another member had given away the annual journal that contains everyones’ contacts.

I’ve won three of those $50 gift certificates.

It was a disappointing show to me. Bought 2 AK mags, a Tapco because they don't exist anymore and a KCI which I am rolling the dice on. The Tapco doesn't even fit my PSAK, something that I should have looked up before spending $10.

Only thing I enjoyed was the terrible art and shirts in the back with the crusaders and the revolutionary soldier. The entire thing looked like a rejected Iron Maiden cover. All in all a waste of $9, but a good day with a friend.

I can give you an idea of what that is. PM sent.

Went today.
About a dozen tables empty.
"Jen's Jewelry" was a common type of table [that really was one of them, by the way]. Id really recon that a third of the tables that were manned werent really connected to guns or knives.

Really not a great show at all

I’d say that’s about accurate...the right side was gun stuff, the left two rows were just stuff.

It didn't help that the Winston and Asheville shows were on the same weekend. A number of gun and gun-related dealers who would have been there this weekend were at Asheville, instead. Likewise, Asheville was weaker on gun and gun-related dealers.

Wish C&E had been last weekend. That way, I could have done both.

81D8229C-007E-4AA5-A44D-AA70B645C429.jpeg We’ve all been to crappy gun shows. This Winston Gun Show was no worse than most of the Winston Gun shows in the last few years. It’s $9 and a couple hours time. Hardly worth all the hard feelings. All Gun Shows aren’t the Dixie Raleigh Show. Even the Dixie Raleigh Show isn’t the Dixie Raleigh Show any more. We get it. C&E could probably improve their shows by having half as many shows. I spent a couple hours at the Winston Show on Saturday morning. Sold a couple, renewed some acquaintances. All in all, enjoyed myself. Spent the proceeds on a pre-lock
Lew Horton 2 5/8” S&W 629. Pretty good

So another C&E flea market?

I have my full personal experience above. I am very sorry that this gun show touched you in a no no spot and left you hurt and triggered for all time. I saw a lot, purchased a good bit, and had a good time. I don’t recall it being any less or any more “flea market” like than any other show I have been to for the past 5-10 years.

That is a pretty nice score.

I was pretty excited about finding a pre-lock version. I was looking around on S-W Forum for info about them and discovered a post of mine from 2011 about my newly-acquired pre-lock 629-5 UDR. I didn’t mention it in that post, but this one is #165 of 300. I apparently sold/traded that one away because I thought I was unworthy. I don’t have any memory of it. Oh well. I’ll be keeping this one unless I find somebody with a 3” 629 that wants to trade me out of it

Wow! That’s hilarious and weird. I saw a guy in Lowes a couple days ago that you would think was your average Joe. Not feminine at ALL until I noticed he was wearing heels. Me, my dad, & step-son stopped, looked at him from head to toe(heels) and all started to chuckle.
You were checking out his feet?

Who do you think you are, @gunbelt? o_O

And this is the Lowes on N Main in High Point to say the least.
I thought I was the only CFF member that shops that store. Memo to self...

Wear “normal shoes” from now on. :(
