READ ALL OF THIS.

In our effort to reach youth groups in muzzleloading shooting sports, our BoD of the N-SSA has tabled any and all support for our efforts instructing in youth shooting sports.

In closed session, we expected to make some motions and get some support. What we got was rejection. Our counsel said that our being NRA Muzzleloading Instructors was a violation of our 501(c)(3) status. Never mind the FACT that you will NOT work in nearly ANY youth org shooting sport without an NRA Instructor certification. He further refused to answer my question regarding the NRA pointing out the physical presence of a pavilion owned by the NRA on our property. Said pavilion has permanent NRA signage. The NRA also recruits on our range. The NRA presents awards to our competitors. We also have a booth at the Great Outdoors Show in PA funded by the NRA. I pointed out that the NRA education side is also a 501(c)(3) and as such it's impossible for us to violate our 501 status with them, reply- crickets. The hypocrisy is stunning.

He also brought up the question of liability. I have already researched this as part of our program and in the case of BSA, we become BSA volunteer members. With that in hand and our instructor credentials, the liability rests completely on BSA unless we violate BSA policy. Open and shut. But not with him. He refused to listen and only reiterated his position. It was like arguing with a 3 year old.

Members of our BoD that expressed support in public were against us behind closed doors. I cannot express my distaste for liars and back stabbers.

What we're doing- This ship is sailing whether they're on board or not. At this point I don't care what our BoD think. We are exploring becoming our own 501 or joining with the NMLRA. Either way, we're going to work with kids in the shooting sports in black powder. The NMLRA has expressed great interest in what we're doing from the beginning. Initially, we wanted to work through our parent organization, the N-SSA, but with our BoD rejection and treachery, I have no such desires anymore and neither do our group of instructors. This mission is far too important.

For those of you who disdain black powder shooting sports, get with the REAL program. We hang together or we hang separately. I have no dislike for black rifles and I expect nothing less from those with black rifles towards us. If the events in Richmond didn't send you a wake up call, you're past dealing with. Wake the Heck UP! Take a kid to the range and help turn the tide. Like it or not, the liberal dumpster fire CAN burn you regardless if you're a Fudd, a Black Rifle type or BP guy. We feel what we're doing with youth to be critically important to the future.

Sorry to hear this, man. I don't know nothing about BP, but I support what you're after.

My shooting started out with shooting single action revolvers and black powder rifles as a kid. I still have them, just don’t shoot them anymore. But I like and try to support ALL types of shooting sports, as you said, we’re all in this together!

Agree! We need to return to the concept of teaching youth that a firearm is just another tool to learn to use and respect that same as any dad teaching junior how to use a circular saw or a gas powered mower. I point to movies that have good examples like The Patriot where the 8-10 year olds were taught how to hunt to help put food on the table
