I was born in High Point, and did most of my growing up in Cabarrus County, walking the fields and woods behind our house with my 39A Mountie (yep, still have it). I grew up around guns, with a dad who was a gun nut, and an uncle who was a gunsmith.

Easter weekend of 1995, someone broke into my parent's house and stole his gun safe, containing almost 40 long guns, 25-ish hand guns, some really old Elgin railroad watches, and countless reminders of good times with family and friends. They took all his knives, and my mom's jewelry, too. They knew precisely where everything was. That event ruined my feeling toward firearms, because of the feelings of loss and rage I would feel every time I handled a gun.

After about 20 years of "turning my head", interest started to trickle back in; and has turned into a flood of gun lust. But, I'm a n00b all over again. So much new stuff to learn, and old stuff to freshen up on.

So, I'm here to learn and share what I can. I'll try to do my homework before I ask any dumb questions.

Glad I found this place. Thanks to those who made it happen.

Hello.
Ask all the stupid questions you want, there is no limit... There's also no limit to the stupid answers you'll get. But, there is always 2 or 3 real good smart answers you can use. ;)

Welcome and we're glad to have you join up with us here.

Howdy from the hills, and welcome!

I understand your pain and reaction to the theft. Though my circumstances are/were different, my house was burgled in '07 and I lost several guns, one of which was the 1st handgun I ever fired and had inherited when Dad passed on. The scumbucket also took his Rolex watch. Ten years later, I have given up on ever seeing those treasures again, but it still hurts and it still opens the dark chambers of my heart when I think on it too long.

Fortunately, I have my memeories and many other artifacts to keep me connected! I also have a whole lotta new friends because I, too, turned off the Lurker switch & jumped in.

:eek::D:eek::):mad::D:eek:o_O

Welcome to the roller coaster. Hope you enjoy the ride!!

Windini, the first gun I ever fired, which was also the first gun my dad ever owned or fired, was in the stolen safe. It was a H&R single-shot .410, handed down to him by his dad. My grandfather used to use it to put meat on the table during the depression years. So, you and I can relate.

As far as being able to see them again: a farmer found my dad's empty safe a week or two later, in one of his fields outside of Pageland, SC. Then, a couple of years ago, this happened:

I expect at least some of my dad's guns are in that pile, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up about getting them back.

The first gun I ever bought was an H&R Topper .410. Paid $46.00 for it at Collias Lawing back in the 1974. Went to buy it and was $6.00 short. My dad made wait another week until I had cut enough lawns.

There is no telling how many kids that little weapon has started on the road to shooting poverty!!!!

Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the nuthouse. Sorry to hear about the loss of guns. I hate a theif. Penalty for theft should be death on my opinion.
