Hi all,

been contemplating getting a little more serious about going DIY for the work I want done to my 1911. But unlike my previous, relatively minor, gun projects, when considering what may in the end become a case of "Strip the damn thing to the frame and slide and build it to be like I damn well want it" I find myself desiring someone I can talk to about what i'm doing or have done along the way, and double check my thinking or stop me from making any huge mistakes.

so anyone know of anyone in the Triangle/north-central NC area that might be willing to help a guy out? :)

as for what I am thinking of doing,
  • want to fit a short trigger, possibly whole new FCG (sear, hammer etc)
  • replace grip safety so that the safety fills, and blends more smoothly between, the frame tangs
  • replace barrel (possibly, depends on a few other factors)
  • If I can get access to a mill, take the front cocking serrations off
  • better blend mag funnel portion of my S&A MSH (don't really need help here just time and tools)
anyway, not exactly in a hurry because any of these projects would have to wait for time and funding...
just wanting to get the question out there so that I can see what resources might be available.

as always, thank you for your time and any info or assistance you can provide :D

I'm about an hour north of Charlotte it you are still looking for some help
Thank you for the offer. :)
Yes I'm still looking for a person (or persons) I can talk/turn to when the time comes to do the more serious work.

have had to put it all on the back burner for the time being though, due to some issues arising out of some major life changes during the past year. I.E. it's all gotta wait till I can afford to buy the parts, tools, etc....

I will keep you in mind, and hopefully I can get on this project in the near future.
