I have a 22 LR can coming in and do not have a platform with a threaded barrel. Thinking about buying a barrel for a 1022 that I have or should I just buy a new gun that is threaded? It appears to be about $200 more for the whole gun.
i also have a Savage MK II 22 :R and was wondering if that barrel is thick enough to thread.

Open to suggestions beside an AR-15 in 22 LR.

Another vote for the Savage FVSR.
Stupid quiet setup and lots of fun. I'm using my Optimus on it right now, but will be in the market for a dedicated .22 can real soon.
Of course, that means I'll have to find a pistol host (or two) also...damn my bad luck lol

Suppressed .22 is addictive, I only have 2 .22 cans but I must have a dozen hosts.

@draco88 check out the Boyd’s replacement stock, it adds weight but doesn’t have so much drop.

•The Savage mentioned above
•Ruger American Rimfire
•Any of the CZs with a threaded barrel; mine is a 455 Varmint Tacticool but I think it’s been replaced by the 457 ProVarmint

M&P 15-22 with threaded barrel

RAR on the left. CZ on the right. M&P 15-22 (cut down to 4.5”) second from the top. M&P 22, M&P 22 compact, and GSG 1911-22 at the bottom.

Savage Mark II FVSR is inexpensive, accurate and quiet...but it is a bolt gun.
The Savage B22 FVSR is just a little more ($50?) with a much better stock and better magazines. Many (most?) who buy the MKII wind up changing the stock right away.

I just came back for the smith and asked what it would cost to thread a barrel and the answer was $150. I can buy a new barrel for that amount or a new host for a $100 more. I have to check what a barrel for the Savage would cost. But I hate to mess-up that setup because it is creditably accurate. When I bought the Savage, it had a Boyd thumb hole stock on it.

Threaded KIDD barrel for your 10/22

Ruger 22/45 threaded for your pistol. My 22/45 has a Bushnell tr25 red Dot and is stupid crazy accurate.

What scope and rings do you have? Looks perfect.
Scope is a Nikon P-tactical rimfire 2-7x32 with a hashed moa reticle.
Rings are med height Weavers.
It really is a nice little package that performs well enough for what I need.

You don’t have a CZ bolt gun? You really don’t have a CZ bolt gun? Oh that’s right, CZ has a silencer built into their barrel.

How expensive (realistically) is the entire process to get a suppressor for a .22? My new rifle has a threaded barrel and I'm already thinking long term about how nice it would be to shoot suppressed in my back yard...

It is not expensive, just irritating.

$250-$400 for the Suppressor.
$200 for the stamp.

You might find a dealer that will include fingerprints and photographs as part of the deal...or you can do them yourself for basically a one-time cost of <$10.

Ever shot a suppressed 22? I’m assuming bolt gun?

I haven't but I was at a match recently and there were several suppressed 22s and it was pretty amazing how quiet they were with SV ammo.
