I had a blowout

Does she have scoliosis?

I had my L5-S1 done at age 26. Still hurting six + years later. I wish you the best of luck
She does but didn't know until after the 2nd surgery, generative disk disease, car wreck, injured coaching basketball, then fell out of my 2500 dodge 4x4 straight on the ground in the ice. Hasn't been able to stand up straight in 7 years.

If it's not prying to much, I'd like to know who did her surgery?

My chiropractor saw my MRI and diagnosis today...he immediately said I was going to need surgery and soon. It seems that the loss of feeling in my right arm will only get worse. I'm looking at 8-12 weeks out of work.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know what it's like.

I would think about going to a neurosurgeon that specializes in spine and see what he says as well. It never hurts to have two sets of eyes look at a problem when it is something this important. Trust me, I know.

Sorry to hear that. But take your time and heal up good. Don't rush back and do any more damage.

I have an appointment with one in Pinehurst Monday. Like Fieldgrade said...I just went through this with my wife in November last year...except hers was the last Vertebra at the base of the spine. I already know the Doc...just waiting to hear from him when he sees my MRI.

Looks like it's going to be a spinal steroid shot...physical therapy...and if that doesn't work surgery around June 1st.

I have had a few things completely straightened out with PT that I was absolutely certain was going to require surgery at the onset. Lets hope for the best sir.

What location? What provider?
I am still in the scheduling phase...insert frown here.
The doc in Pinehurst said there first available was May 12...I said that a month away, I cannot wait for that. So I think they are making an appointment in a Pain management center in Clayton. I'm still waiting for the call back.

I work with neuroradiology at Duke. Our cervical patients can't get in until Mid-to-late May. In the industry, May 12 ain't bad. But I have an inside track. If you are interested, PM me.

Update...tried the physical therapy and the Shots in the neck. They did not work. Surgery scheduled for June 24th.
I'll need somebody to go shoot USPSA for me at Pitt County that day...lol

Oh wow. I just spotted this thread. I hope I don't have anything like what you had.
I just had my MRI today.
Cervical spinal stenosis has been the diagnosis for me so far. All I know is my shoulder blade, shoulder, elbow, all hurt like heck and my fingers will go numb and tingle often. Hurts to move my neck.

I've been to urgent care, ER, and my personal orthopedic's office in 2 weeks. I have YET to see an actual doctor.
But I ain't gonna get started on our "health Care"

You have my prayers, for sure. My wife had the same surgery 4 years ago. She is doing pretty well now, but if she had waited much longer the doc said she could have been paralyzed. Good luck!

Sorry the injections did not work. About 20% of cervical injections work; the rest usually end up with surgery. The good news is the surgery is pretty refined and should do the trick.

Ummm...i got bad news...lol. Sounds a lot like what I've been through.

Sorry to hear it buddy. I'm sure you'll come out on top though. You always do...

It's no sweat. Here is what they do.:(

1. Partial corpectomy C4-C5, C6-C7. 2. Take down of prior pseudoarthrosis C5-C6. 3. Attempted stabilization using carbon fiber Bengal cages between C4 and C5 and between C6 and C7, 9 millimeter cages were used. Between C5 and C6, a 6 millimeter cage was used. The cages, the lateral recesses and the space anterior to the cages was filled with Healos sponge saturated in autologous bone marrow aspirate. 4. Attempted stabilization using a 54 millimeter three level dynamic Swift plate made by DePuy. There were bilateral screws placed in each level. In C4, C5 and C6, 18 millimeter screws were placed and at C7 18 millimeter oversized screws were placed. 5. Harvesting of autologous bone marrow from the right iliac crest.

Easy peasy. Good luck. And I cannot emphasize this enough----DO NOT GO BACK TO WORK TOO EARLY. I DON'T CARE HOW LOW YOU ARE ON SICK LEAVE (OR WHATEVER YOU CALL IT). DON'T DO IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

Tomorrow is the big day. Bright and early I get cut on. I'll be dark for a few days as anesthesia makes me sick. After that you'll get tired of me quick as I'll be stuck to the couch for a week or more and have nothing better to do than to post useless stuff...while on pain medicine...lol.

Hey! I have made an avocation out of this. :)

But seriously, I hope things go well tomorrow. I know the Big Guy is looking out for you because he has plans for you. (which apparently includes character building experiences like this o_O)

Good luck, Mike. We'll say a few more on your behalf today and tomorrow.

We'll pray especially hard that M doesn't set the couch on fire with you on it. We know how much she likes that couch.

Get the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. #958 with Jordan Peterson is very eye opening, very deep.

I don't want to make light of your situation but when I read the title of this thread the very first thing I thought of was a child's diaper. Nothing like picking up a child to find poop coming out the leg holes or half way up their back. Life with kids....

I'll pray for your healing and comfort though the process.

Made it out alive...lol. Did I mention that I hate with the burning passion of a 1000 suns being restrained in a hospital bed. As soon as I could get out I started feeling better. Now on to the month long "gee wiz this neck brace itches" journey.
Life is good.

Outstanding Mike. We look forward to seeing you back at matches soon.

Thought about you all day yesterday and wondered how it went. Sounds like it went well and you're on the way to getting better.
