I am a self admitted S&W junkie and I finally brought home an SW22 Victory. I have been eying them for a while and an enabler let me shoot theirs back in the fall one day at the range. I had too much time to kill today while waiting to pick up my son from school and spent a little too long at the LGS. Really, I did walk away but it kept calling to me.
I had heard that some of the early models had a problem with the take down screw loosening. Apparently S&W fixed this...I couldn't get the thing off to clean it! I put enough force on the included hex wrench that I think I pulled something in my hand. A little Google later and saw mention of some of them being a little tight. A "little"? I put a crescent wrench on the end of the hex wrench to get some leverage and went to town. When that thing finally broke loose, I thought I had snapped the hex wrench. Nope, but bent it pretty well. Everything went back together just fine though and no damage to the screw.
It may be a week or so before I get back to the range before I can shoot it.

I'm also addicted to S&W. My M&P 22c had the thread protector on so tight, had to clamp the barrel in my vise (did not want to rip it out of the plastic frame).
I bought a low profile adjustable wrench and had to use a pipe to get the leverage to loosen it.

On ours I couldn’t keep the barrel cap on. Had to use nail polish for a bit. Finally put some blue locktite as I don’t plan on getting a can.

Got it out to the range today. Wow! It is a tack driver! It likes the cheap bulk Federal 325 pack. I even stretched it out to 25 yards and kept it in the 9 ring. Excellent for me since at 25 yards I can about see a black blob for a target. I am very happy with my purchase. Oh, and the take down screw comes out like it should after the range.

I had a thread protector on a SP01 that likes to loosen up. I got some rubber plumbing gasket ring things from the hardware store that’s about the size of the barrel. Put it on first and then tightened the muzzle protector down. It provides a great seal and is about a .10$ fix.

O-ring is a cheap fix.

Another really cheap/easy option (as most of us have a half-dozen partially used rolls sitting around) is a wrap or two of Teflon tape. It's what I use to keep thread protectors and even direct thread silencers attached.

I’ve had one for about two years. One of my favorite guns to shoot. I looked at everything before making the purchase. I also had an unbelievable time getting the hex screw to come loose. I had to put Aero Kroil break free on it and used wrench extender to finally break the screw loose. Not any issue after that.

Love the sights on the pistol. Love the ease of cleaning it. Gun shoots very good and it’s cheap to shoot now that the ammo hoarding has passed. My shooting partner went out and purchased one as well. Now most of my shooting rounds happen with this and a CZ455. I’ve thought about adding a red dot to it in the future.

Tell me about these mods.

Sure! The barrel is a factory barrel reworked by Billy Striplin of Striplin Custom Gunworks. The comp and thumbrest is also Striplin Custom. The trigger, charging ring, firing pin, and extractor are all Tandemkross parts. It has a Tandemkross cmore mount with a 12 moa cmore slide ride. The grips and magwell are from a guy on Facebook that does 3D printing and they feel amazing! I think that about covers everything haha.

Very, very nice rich man. I wanna see the response letter when you send it back to S&W for a warranty repair. “Dear Sir, we did not make this gun. Please check your purchase receipt again.”

Haha I’m not really worried about that. Tandemkross is making or will be making about all the parts to replace in he gun. I actually showed it to the S&W guys that were set up at the World Rimfire Match this past year and they loved it lol. I have a limited gun set up the same. IMG_4408.JPG

I'm glad you love it like a mother, they're just so... aesthetically unappealing.
My previous experiences with 2 S&W semis (22 & 45) were not good. If I got another S&W, it'd be wheel gun.
