car is a 2006 Kia Spectra EX.... dealership keyfob for unlocking doors is $200 and I want one cheaper.

Near Winston Salem preferably.

Most locksmith shops here also do car keys and fobs. Normally about $75-100..still expensive...but less than dealer. If you have 2 keys, you normally can get another blank...have it cut and program it yourself..check forums of your car as each car is different in the procedure.

Bought a couple for a 2012 Kia off of Amazon, that were real deal Kia fobs, not generic. Had to get them programmed at the Kia dealership though.

Search around, I got ones for a Nissan dealership in another state that was FAR cheaper, even with shipping, than my local dealership.
Programming was VERY easy to DIY, youtube helped

Search for a kia forum and ask there

Ebay. I got fobs for my Kia, Toyota and Nissan. Kia and Toyota had programming directions. Nissan (2013 Rogue) had to be programmed at dealership. They all charge 1 hour labor (whatever the rate is by you). Fobs were about $35 each.

I always buy a key and/or fob when buying a new car to have a third. You need to have 2 to program, so buying the replacement up front if cheap insurance...

Key blank / fob from eBay
Cut at Lowe's
Program at home following the provided instructions / YouTube

Like above, got mine off eBay. Watched a Youtube video and programmed them myself. I suggest you check eBay and Youtube for programming instructions.

I got 2 from amazon for just under 12 dollars for my wife's xterra, came with programming instructions
had them both working in 2 minutes
