So I've been wanting a 41 Mag revolver for a while. I read tons of ballistics on it and from what I've read and seen it's the damn near best round for all around self defense, home defense, and everything in between. The only problem I'm having is finding a good Double Action revolver that is chambered for it. I know S&W makes them but they're soooo expensive and I'd rather get one sooner than later. I know Charter Arms has or used to have a Mag Pug chambered in 41 Mag but I'm not sure if they make it anymore but I'd rather have a 4" barrel instead of 2" and more than 5 shots is preferable but not a necessity. Any suggestions?

Edit: Upon further investigation on a few gun purchasing sites, it seems the Mag Pug or the Smith Model 57 are the only 2 options for brand new guns. Haven't checked Gunbroker, but my hopes aren't too high.

I had a tarus revolver in 41 mag for a while.
The revolver was fine, I just discovered I'm not much of a Magnum shooter. So I sold it. These can still be found on the used market, but was a 5 shooter
The ten mm is about as Magnum as I get these days

Does it have to be a new gun?

I’m not a Taurus fan but they make one.

Get a used gun, lots of options there.

If you can find a good used Redhawk that is a good shooter . Heavier that the Smith and will handle heavy ,hot rounds . I have six 41 magnums and one is a 5 1/2 in Older blued Redhawk. The recoil seems much lighter than the Smith's. If you get a 41 mag I hope you reload cause the factory ammo is expensive and you won't find it at Walmart.Factory ammo is nearly a dollar a round.

Taurus Tracker is a 5 shot and available on gunbroker pretty regular.I have one.

For a consistent diet of hot stuff I would look for a Ruger.

I had a Smith 58 years ago and sold it when money was tight.Wish I still had it.

I have a couple of blackhawks and a couple of 57s. The 4" Model 57 is an awesome pistol.

I'm a huge .41 fan, though my tastes run toward single actions. I'd love to rectify that with a 657-2 'Classic Hunter', but they've become awful precious the last few years. Need to keep an eye out for the right 6" model 57 or 58.

Do you reload? Ammo's spendy & hard to find & I started reloading when I bought my first .41. To be fair, I'd wanted to start reloading for years & the .41 gave me the perfect excuse. Very versatile & fun round. The classic 7.5-8.0gr Unique under a 215gr LSWC is an easy shooting, accurate load & with a healthy pour of 2400 you can make that same 215gr LSWC absolutely scream. Also good with heavier bullets & my Rugers love a 240gr Keith as much at 1000fps as they do at 1300. I've been eyeballing some 265gr to try out once I'm done tweaking the 240gr load.

Then, there's this'n...

If you think that’s something, I gots yet another reason to get your keister back over to Jeppo’s House of Cool Guns and Credit Dentistry. :D

I would ask one of the members for trial shooting experience before purchasing one. They can be a beast with the full house loads..

I've owned numerous Smith 57, 58 and 657s. Great shooting guns and still have a old 4" 58. My other .41s are a 14" TC Contender and 20" Marlin 1894S. Been reloading for the cartridge since I started with a 6" 57 back in 85'. Cast bullets from 195 gr SWC to 270 gr WFN. Carried the 58 and Marlin black bear hunting this year but the bruins never should up for the meeting :(

I sure wish people would stop posting photos of .41 Magnum Marlin 1894s. It reminds me of “the one that got away”.

I traded for a nice Model 57 many years ago. I love the cartridge but I’m sort of “meh” on N frame Smiths. A .41 Magnum version of the L framed Model 69 would be interesting.
