Luckily the tree was too short to reach the deck.
This was one of the pines I was concerned about.

And some power out breakfast and coffee.

Good news you no longer have to worry about it. Bad news you get to clean up a mess now

Excuse to buy a heavier duty Stihl chainsaw.
Figure that will cost less than professional removal.
The one I have will handle the branches but not the trunk of the tree.
Good pile for the fire pit.

That pine will burn good in a fire pit. If you end up just needing someone with a bigger saw just to block it up let me know that shouldnt take long.

Thanks. I'll post a date and time when I plan to attack it.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with a giant tooth pick lying in the back yard after this ice storm. [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Looks like your next door neighbor has a big one on it's way to coming down sometime in the future. As wet as the ground has been, I can see that one coming down with some wind.

edit: After looking again, I'll say it looks like you've got another one on it's way to coming down sometime in the future. I thought it was on the other side of the fence but now I see that it is on your side.

Exactly. That is one I would have the pros deal with. Needs to come down just right to fall in my yard. Maybe even piece by piece.

@fishgutzy
Is that a percolator? If so, where can I get one?

It is a stove top espresso pot.
The specific one is this. About the best you can buy. But there are many less expensive.
Cuisinox Roma 10-cup Stainless Steel Stovetop Moka Espresso Maker, Stainless steel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TVGJA6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fZspCb26XQ6XS
Water and coffee in the bottom.
Caribbean style coffee maker.
We also use a 48 ounce coffee press.

Spent a little over an hour this morning during all the branches off and cutting what I could to fire pit size.
Luckily i was not near the tree when it rolled over.
I just started cutting away at the jagged trunk when it rolled.
That actually made it much easier to finish cutting off the branches.

I have a Stihl 024 I got during the aftermath of Hugo. I added a longer bar and it's been cutting right along for years.

Who would have thought a little Stihl MS170 could cut up a nearly 18" diameter at the base line tree.
Not me. But I just kept going and so did the Stihl.

Nice. While I have bigger, more powerful Stihls, my Mini Boss gets the most use; as long as I keep the blade sharp, it never fails me.

Now you just need a 13 year old to split all that.

I love my Little 170...….. I have a much heavier saw and one day after using it for the better part of a day, I said FTS. I went to the local ACE and asked for the smallest/lightest saw they had - which was the 170. I wish I would have gotten it a long time ago.

I did exactly the opposite!
After running the little 170 with its 12" picco micro chain I went and bought an MS250 w/18" bar.
After running the MS250 I went and bought an MS362 w/20" bar.

It's a matter of using the correct tool for the job. I would use a 1/4" ratchet for some jobs, a 3/8" for some and a 1/2" for others.
The MS250 has been in use nearly every weekend for almost 15 years.
I bought it new. It was money well spent.
If I were to recommend an "all around" saw to a homeowner who could only own one saw, it would be a MS250 with either a 16" or 18" bar.

The MS362 is the first pro series saw I have ever used. Going from the MS250 to the 362 was like going from a moped to a 2 stroke dirt bike. Huge difference in torque. 45cc vs 59cc.

Agreed..... about a 45cc saw with an 18" bar will do most everything a homeowner will tackle.

I wound up with a MS311 and a MS170.

Love the setup.

Gonna let it dry first, then split.
