Do you wear a vest normally...in public?
Edited to say...i would try one on before I bought it. There are a lot available online, but for shooting IDPA it's best to get a hands on feel.

I do not, I went to the Cabelas in garner today and they had 0 vests of any kind, except the then mesh orange vest you use for hunting.....
Fly fishing or photographers vests maybe

Yes their sizes are pretty true. I use a XL (wear large shirts) so it's not tight against the gun.

I just couldn't make myself spend 70+ bucks on a 5.11 or tru spec shoot me first vest, So I use a soft shell vest I got off Amazon for like 25 bucks. Surprisingly, the material is stiff enough it works great. Sweeps out of the way better than the pockets on every inch type vests.

how tall are you amp? cause I wear xl shirts so a 2xl is probably what I need.....

For reference for your sizing: I'm 6" and 185lbs. I have the 5.11 in large and it has just a little extra room. Thought about going to a medium so I don't have as much material to sweep out of the way, so I could use either one.
