If you're gonna cook..........................................

Is there such a thing as a bad hot sauce? My mom got me an assortment box from Big Lots. I think it was called Aztec Revenge. I went straight for the jalapeno sauce. It was the only green sauce in the box and I jumped. It was very good.

I haven't tried any of the others in the box, yet.

Tabasco.

It's kinda hard to screw up hot sauce, but they managed it.

Now that you mention it, I agree 100%. When I was on a Texas Pete kick, I decided to try the other brands and Tabasco was just awful.

Tabasco makes Texas Pete's taste like week old backwash beer left on a sleezy bar somewhere. Tabasco does have a little more vinegar content and less sodium so it is better mixed into sauces or food and not directly drenched on a taco or something like that. Texas Pete's is just a poor knockoff of Franks's and Crystal. Cholula is solid in the flavor department also.

Truthfully there are probably 1000's of good hot sauces out there. Some are just better on some foods than others.

I am on a Pucker Butt Voodoo Death Prince Mamba kick lately. And Scorned Woman. Although Scorned Woman is a little black peppery for some people.

One of my favorite go to hot sauces is tapatio. It's cheap and available at most grocery stores and Walmart.

1-2 Tbs of Tapatio, 1-2 tsp of crushed garllic, and 1 to 3/4 cup of margarine makes an awesome wing sauce FYI.

I recently found the large 32oz bottle in my local grocery store. :)

That sounds yummy! I'll try that the next time I make wings.

Blasphemer! Why would you use something that was created to fatten turkeys.......and then ended up killing the turkeys?

It tastes good on raw oysters. :p
ANYTHING on a raw oyster makes it taste better! There is much improvement went it starts out tasting like Azz! Yuck!!!! When I was in the Infantry, we had M113 APCs. My guys would wait until we went to the field and drag out smoked oysters in a can. Damned track smelled like a whorehouse where they didn't bathe! Worst thing was, the smell just didn't go away!

Ghost Pepper and the Carolina Reaper can be overwhelming. It's like IPA's right now. Everyone has to go hotter, stronger and more potent. I'll use a few drops of ghost pepper sauce in a pint or two of wing sauce to add to the kick, but not for the main flavor.

I like butter as much as the next person, but two sticks is a bit much even for an unhealthy wing sauce! :)

Gotta agree. Use real butter whenever possible.

All foolishness aside, I am becoming more and more convinced that our bodies evolved to be much more able to digest natural animal fats rather than 'partially hydrogenated oils' and the like. So no, I don't think two sticks is too much.
