is it blasphemous to admit I like Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon's covers of Johnny and June Carter Cash's tunes MORE THAN the originals?

'Cause I do. I just got done watching Walk the Line and am still impressed they did their own singing in the movie.

Only semi-blasphemous...I like Roseanne Cash's version of Tennessee Flat Top Box beter than the original.
Havent watched Walk the Line, yet...I need to.

Well.

Johnny Cash preforming HURT is way better than 9 inch nail and nirvana

So Johnny was not opposed to covers either

That is the song that brought me to his music. Huge NIN fan channel surfing and here's this old dude putting more pain and heartbreak into one note of that song than Reznor got into the whole album.

A quick Google to figure out who the old dude was..... And now I listen to more of his work than anything else.

Meh. I thought Walk Hard : The Dewey Cox Story was far better.

ha! Funny thing is that I watched Dewey Cox...was still wide awake so I went ahead and watched Walk the Line. That's what prompted the thread. Although I will say there was far too much male full frontal nudity for my taste in Dewey.

The nudity was tasteful however. Walk Hard is one of my top five all time movies.

In classic country if a song went number one it would go there three more times by different artists. The songs back then were far better than they are now
