I can. Did it while it was on the center stand.
I'm one of two BMW riders I know of that can do it. I'm sure there are more. My current ride is the S1000XR which is kinda tall too.

I understand your pain. I'm in FDA/etc compliance. Everybody at work either hates me or grudgingly tolerates me as a necessary pain in the butt.
That's alright though, I get paid to make their lives harder and to tell them that they are wrong. So that's a win win win for me.
