I think I'm might go back today. One of the targets I like to use is a full size with 6 different 4" targets. I'm gonna try to sre how accurate I am at shooting all 6 quickly
I have a target recognition and shoot/no shoot drill I like. Requires a partner, though. We do this at an outdoor range, from the holster, but it could be adapted to an indoor range from the low ready.
Draw three or four colored shapes on the back of a target. Things like an orange circle, blue triangle, green square.
Start holstered, or at low ready, with your head turned away from the target. Have your partner call out a color/shape combo.
Turn head, locate the color/shape combo, raise weapon, and fire IF that combo exists on the target.
If the combo does not exist, do not fire.
Using my examples above, an orange circle would be fired at, while a red square would not be.
It forces you to process what you see and decide on an action.
When I do this with my nephew, I give him a hard time and tell him he just earned 25 to life every time he fires when he shouldn't.
After all, not every situation is a shoot scenario. Outside of actual force on force training, I find this works for me and a few others I have tried it with.
Nephew is getting better at it. Be averages one misfire about every three or four mags now.
