Inshore trolling

I should have gone to college.

Those mackerels good eatin'? I'm so tempted to do an offshore fishing charter, just to put some yummy fish in the freezer.

They’re good. Blues you have to soak for a few days to get the fishy taste off them. Heading to Ocracoke in the morning then cleaning fish in the afternoon. Weather has turned for the worst so “pirate island” as the little ones call it is where we’ll spend the day.

I have only trolled a few times. Bores the heck out of me. Leads to a lot of beer drinking. But there is a reason why it is banned in Professional Bass Tournaments. It works. Nice haul.

Nice catch, love me some Spanish, they are some good eating! The blues, cook them when they are fresh, lightly battered and fried and they will be as good as anything. Once they are frozen, not so much. Good job there with the kids!

If you do, try to book a group on the Fintastic out of Oregon Inlet. The captain knows his stuff. Got us in the tuna even when he was skeptical before departure and few other boats were hooking up.
I'm letting my daughter take my spot on the 6 pack in July.

I disagree on the blues comment. Love the flavor fresh. The oils are highly beneficial too. I used to catch big blues from the beach up in MA. Would chunk it up and bake in a mildly spicy marinara sauce or throw in on the grill in tin foil with garlic, peppers and onions.
