Installing Trailer Brake Controller 2014 Ford Expedition- What Do I need To Know?

We just bought a tow behind camper. I see I can install an aftermarket unit. I do not like drilling dash panels, or the module & bracket assy at my shin. A factory dash model was a factory option.
I know I need a controller and a new electric plug, what else do I need to know & have?
From interwebz searching, this is the dash panel part.

Check for OEM connection where it mounts.
Might need to change to computer codes to recognize it.

Those were the only two things I did to add a factory control on my 2015 (off ebay)

The dash panel part is your controller; that particular part is a plugin module. You will need to go to a dealer to have the computer reflashed to recognize it. Check the forums to be sure that will work though, because on my Chevy it won't.

Part of why I bough the truck I did- factory integrated trailer brake controller.

Installing the factory part should be straightforward using thw existing harness.

You may need to go to a ford dealer to flash the PCM to tell the truck that there’s a brake controller there.
