Interesting helmet I picked up a few years ago. Claims to be made over “standard government dies”. Dimensions seem to match the M1917 helmet I have although the chin strap is of much lesser quality and the liner is different than what I have seen.
I have heard various stories about these over the years from private purchase lightweight officers helmet to VFW issue for parade purposes. Personally the VFW story is more credible. 9391BC5D-0294-4D84-8AA1-DFEB40EA5975.jpegA9C24BB8-2821-4EFA-B249-B272FC5A1BF6.jpegC44C60E7-520F-43ED-9014-EA719F4664B3.jpeg

I did a little research, and it seems George Evans Co. made that helmet in both aluminum and brass. Seems the company was known for making parade and marching band uniforms. Might have been part of a parade uniform for a veterans group.

that makes sense. very light weight so no protection value in a logging situation.
I would love to get one in brass, that would be a sight to see all polished up!
