Interesting (shocking?) 9th circuit court ruling

This quote is a great take away...

"Much of the modern argument over gun control revolves around the effort to label certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles (and magazines over ten rounds) as “military style” weapons that are effectively unprotected by the Second Amendment. Yet the Ninth Circuit’s language — rooted in the history of the amendment — links constitutional protection to a weapon’s potential militia use. In other words, the “military style” moniker actually connects the guns in question to the historic purpose of the right to bear arms."

See US v miller, or if thats to complicated, see the founders words themselves!!

Which is why we should be careful using arguments about this or that being a “modern sporting rifle.”

Correct. Guns that serve a military purpose are those most protected. What's funny about Miller (if I'm thinking of the correct case) is that had the defense actually shown up, they could have easily made the case about shorter shotguns being used by the mikitary in WW1, which would have gone a long way to killing the NFA.

Agreed. The idea of guns and ammo requiring a "sporting" purpose is a dangerous concept to embrace. I think that with the AR platform, people started using this term to counter the libtards calling it a weapon of war.

The pro-2A crowd started going down a dangerous path by renaming everything in order to sound softer to the left thereby hopefully not incurring as much animus, but should have stuck to their guns (pun intended) and called them for what they are. The whole give-them-an-inch-they'll-take-a-mile thing.

All weapons are/were weapons of war. David killed goliath with a rock, ain't seeing anyone wantin to ban them.
