Cool thing about IPSC is it would have been within the rules for him to go around those props, return back into the stage and continue firing.
It was faster to go over them, but not required.
Actually IPSC you have to stay in the shooting area, no short cuts.
2.2.1.5 If a COF has a passageway visibly delineated by fault lines and/or a clearly demarcated shooting area, any competitor who takes a shortcut by stepping on the ground outside the passageway and/or shooting area will incur one procedural penalty for each shot fired after beginning the shortcut.
No you cannot in IPSC. USPSA yes. But not IPSC. That's one of the big differences between the 2.What I meant was you can travel outside the demarcated shooting area, but must be within it to fire a shot.
So shortcuts are cool, but get back in the boundaries before you break a shot.
