I’m interested in purchasing a great knife but don’t know what to get. I was thinking something that is not mass produced. This will be a gift. Any direction with this is greatly appreciated

Look up Mike Norris in Stanly County NC
He is a renowned knife maker in the area.

My blacksmith makes custom knives from rasps. He is in Yadkinville and has a Facebook account. His name is Adam White. Look him up.

Can you provide any ideas at all?

Folder or fixed blade?
Every day carry or safe queen?
Camp knife, skinner, filet knife, Bowie?
What kinds of scales?
Budget?

If you don’t know what you like maybe poke around Arizona Custom Knives, Blade HQ or other online outlets for custom knife makers.

First question I would ask if presented this scenario at the store is whether it is gonna be for display or actual use? If the latter, what kind of use? Tactical, bushcraft, survival, homesteading/animal cleaning or what?

Just be thoughtful of which steel you pick. Not everyone is capable of sharpening the newer "super" steels.. Know your limitations..
