I know some of you have complaints about AT&T. I can assure you as an employee of 20+ years, I have my own list of things, probably a little different than yours.

But, one thing they've done a great job of is the #ItCanWait campaign. This was made last year, but was sent out to us as a reminder again today as part of a "risk normalization" discussion. Just as a heads-up...the pollen counts must be high today.

I'd highly encourage you to watch it (it's only 3:51). And share it with friends and family. Especially those with teens...encourage them that it's just not worth the risk.

I didn't watch it, I know what it's going to say. I hope those of you that the clip is about watch it though. I'm one of those people that you can rarely reach by phone or even text on a moments notice. I keep my phone in my pocket and if I'm not doing anything else I'll pull it out and look to see who's calling. If I'm driving or working it's going to have to wait until I get a minute to see who it is. MY phone is for MY convenience, not yours......

You should still watch it. :p

As you wish, I watched it and the message was exactly what I knew it would be. Kids, and adults of today are virtually hopeless when it comes the the friggen phone. To them nothing is more important. Not your life, not my life or even their own life.

When I was with GSP we used to take a badly wrecked Camaro chained on a trailer to various schools and leave it for a week or two to try and give the teenagers a rough idea of what happens when teens drive drunk or stoned. Maybe it helped at the moment but things always seemed to go back to where they were before. I've seen kids look at it and break into tears and sob uncontrollably with emotion yet within a couple of months the scene was replayed. Again and again and again. I can't explain how it affected me when scraping some of those kids off the pavement or seeing the bodies cut from the wreckage, but it did.....

I applaud your character in posting this and hopefully it gets around and most hopefully it might make a difference in someone's life.

I was stopped at a traffic light today with my wife and looked at the cars to the left and right of me. Both people in both cars were texting and continued when the light turned green. And they were not kids. It's unfortunately a lost cause because people will never stop no matter how many lives it costs. Not to be a cynic but I could almost bet those kids went out to there cars from this filming and texted on the way home. Sad as it is. :(

Time to get serious!

I don’t remember the numbers but I do remember more than texting in 2016 was a proven variable in 1.5 million car crashes ... about 4,000 deaths 350,000 confirmed as text related. My kid is smart and not as attached to a cellphone as many teens, I drilled into him social media stuff is evil so I think he’s less likely I still basically said if I or anyone I believe sees him I will take his truck, take him of insurance, shut his phone off, etc.

These are no illegal to own but the second you turn them on you’re violating a bunch of laws ... BUT I still want one soooooo bad ...

All the idiots I see looking at their phone would get a 15-20 second pulse on ...

"I drilled into him social media stuff is evil"

I've said it before, this social media stuff is going to bring this country down, or at least have a part in it. Go to one of the MSM news sites and look, I'll bet there are a few "news" stories about someone apologizing for something that was put out on social media. And it's every day you read those same stories.

Then you've got people who think they have to check their websites & feeds while they drive, it just gets worse.

.

Way too many 'gadgets' in vehicles...

Just drive.

Counted 3 times today where I was at a traffic light, it went green and the person in front of me did not proceed because their attention was focused on a phone or in-dash 'screen'.

The air horn got me a shrug from one driver as if to say, "What?" The other two drivers used sign language to let me know I was "number 1".

I don't give my phone any attention at all if I'm doing anything other than sitting still and relaxing. I don't answer my phone for anyone other than immediate family members or friends I know, and even then, I only do so when I'm not doing anything. If there's no voicemail, then it's not important and I don't call back. If someone texts me while I'm driving, then I can listen to the text through the speakers in my Jeep. I don't respond until the Jeep is parked. It's common sense and nothing else.

It may be my age. But the phone normally stays home unless I am going more then 15 miles from home. I do take it with me when I go to the range (85 miles). The great thing about that is that I do not get a signal at the range. So I do not have to worry about turning it off. The phone annoys me and I could care less about it. If I have my wife's car I do not bring my phone. It has OnStar and my wife and I are the only ones with the number to the car.

Watched a guy today drive a little under the speed limit while he was texting on interstate. Can't be too careful. SMH.

But the best is the twice a year safety briefings at work about not using your cell phone while driving the trucks. And the multiple phone calls per run you get from your supervisor. Yeah, nothing like a clear message from your employer.

And when it comes to using it as an actual voice phone, it isn't the hands hold it that’s the distraction. It’s the concentration that the damned call takes!

See, this is why we need self driving cars. This, and eating while driving.

I rode up beside a Mustang holding up traffic in the left lane on I85 on my motorcycle. I looked over at her to let her know that she was holding up traffic. Guess what? She was driving with her knee and had a phone in each hand!
