Her brother, Ines, and his wife came up to MA from PR for another brother's funeral last month.
Days before that trip Ines had a minor stroke that left one side of his face partially paralyzed. His doctor cleared him for the trip.
Since they don't have power yet back home they decided to stay through the holidays.
Both of them are now in separate hospitals in Boston. Ines due to complications from the stroke and his wife has a severe infection from a scratch on her leg.
They are both in their 70's and have not been in very good health the last 20 years.
The family is praying for both to recover so they can return to their home in OR. Maybe the power will be back in by then too.

I think it's a blessing they made it to the mainland before things got too bad.
That is the truth. Boston area hospitals are orders of magnitude better than Puerto Rico. PR ruined most of their hospitals by mandating a single payer. Private hospitals are still good there but are priced to limit access to the ruling class and the wealthy. Kind of like what democrats want for the US.

My BIL was finally released yesterday. Took some time for tests and making sure he was stable enough.
His wife is still in the hospital battling a bad infection. Still praying for a good outcome.

That's good news, you and your family are in my prayers.
