A good assortment of nuts, bolts, screws, washers, wire, clips, cotter pins, grease fittings, etc. There is a scrap metal company near me that is a grand shopping mall for the fix it guy mentioned in another thread by tanstaff. They have almost everything by the pound and its pennies on the dollar compared to the big box stores. This company buys inventory from places going out of business and resells. They even stock gov items like 9mm, 5.56, 7.62 brass, ammo cans, tent stakes, cots, etc. They also sell sheet metal and will cut it to your specs. When I stop there I usually lose about an hour out of my day. Top post battery clamps that sell at the auto parts store for $11.00 each were .50 cents each. 20 pos and 20 neg came home with me.

You going to sit there and post up about this wonderful place...and not tell us where it is/who it is. Shame... SHAME!

The location would be USA metals in Wilmington, NC. Gulf Stream Steel in Hampstead also has an assortment of nuts, bolts etc. Yup @tanstaafl7255.

Going there this am to get ammo cans to mount on the generators. Had an issue with both gennys during the storm and had to search for parts. After todays visit the parts will be consolidated and mounted to each genny. No more searching for parts, problem solved.
That is a great idea

Wilm is not close to me, anyone know of a place like this in the Triad (WS/GSO/HP surrounding areas)?

I know DH Griffin has scrap metal, Ive been to their yard over off of High Point Blvd before for some scrap aluminum sheet, but not sure that they do anything like what the OP is talking about.
I'd love to find a place I could buy some fasteners for cheap just to have on hand.

When working on a project, I make a list of the fasteners I need, then I buy two or three extra to save for later use, slowly building up my stores of fasteners/hardware.

I have a few buckets of assorted hardware from each time I dump my toolbag over the years
