Anyone else going?
I'm planning to be there in the morning at 9 or so.

Dad and I use to go to this one all the time. Unfortunately, it got to be an aggravation, so we just went to the one at the fairgrounds. We really don't even go to that one much. It's getting a little too far away to see the same stuff and people.

You met us at Charlotte last year, I think. I took him then because we hadn't been to that show in many, many years, but it was his birthday and I wanted to take him to pineville tavern.

Yes I did meet you and your dad there.
I'm going tomorrow to look for AR mags and 45-70 ammo.
I may stop by PSA while I'm down there.

I was going to go today, but got lazy. I will go tomorrow.

I like this show because it;s not the normal group of dealers.
More interesting things to see.
Mid-South is there this time with a about 5 tables of NICE shotguns and rifles.

well, I didnt make it today either... I just wasnt motivated to see anything there... I will get to the show in April... maybe...

As for the Mike Kent Shows... I am done with them... every one of his shows now has a $5 parking fee... combine that with the $8 entry fee, and that is $13 for me to go in and walk around for a couple hours... no thanks...

The SC Arms Dealers shows at Jamil continue to have free parking... I will continue to patronize them.... but in all honesty, these gun shows are growing old to me.... there are few actual deals to be found... most vendors charge more than the online retailers, and as much as the brick and mortar stores... its nice to go out and look at all the candy in one location from time to time, but I buy less and less each time I go.

Having two brothers living in Cola kept Dad and me going longer than we probably would have under normal circumstances.

The parking fee is charged by the venue, not the promoter. Mike Kent doesn’t get a dime of that. If the SCACA show was at the fairgrounds, you’d pay for parking at it, too.

Mike Kent told me that personally about a year ago or so... I dont have any reason to not believe him.

It is curious, however, that the $5 parking fee is charged at EVERY Mike Kent venue in both NC and SC, whereas, parking is free at SC Arms Dealers Assn, shows.

Parking is free at Mike’s Asheville, NC Show.

You’ll also notice that SCACA and Mike Kent don’t share venues. Again, the venue charges parking or doesn’t. It is not in a promoter’s interest to charge for parking.

The NC state fairground just started charging a $1 per ticket “facility fee” at the Raleigh gun show. The promoter was furious about this, as it makes people less likely to come to the show.

I am not faulting Mike, per se...

$5 parking charges are required at Myrtle Beach, Ladson, Florence, and Columbia. His show does not charge for parking in Asheville, his only NC location. Then again, it looks like NO ONE charges for parking in NC.

Greensboro does. And Raleigh shows now have a $1 “facility fee” tacked on by the fairgrounds.

It is the venue that charges for parking, ostensibly to pay for their parking lot and parking staff. It is not the event promoter.

When did they start charging at Florence? I think I've been at least once in the last 12 months, but don't remember paying.

No parking fees (yet) for MK Shows at the Ladson Fairgrounds near Summerville, SC. The SCACA show stopped coming to the North Charleston convention center one or two years ago. Not sure why. But they did not require a parking fee either.
