I remember back in the earlier days of my marriage when some work related stuff came up during our talking. My wife found out I took my wedding band off sometimes during my work aboard the ship. She was a little upset about that.

I asked her what part about the electrical safety stuff she didn't understand, concerning removing all metal and loose clothing.

Sometimes working with a ring on your finger isn't the smartest thing in the world to do. Electricity can turn it into a piece of white hot metal, moving machinery can deglove or remove a finger. She got the point when I offered to dig up some pictures of degloved fingers to show her.

My dad would never wear a wedding band for this reason. Never even had one.
