Ken Hackathorn-Larry Vickers Advanced Handgun

Oh right, the low light. Guess I better get a lanyard for my light and learn to work it correctly.

FORGET THAT. You will be so pissed off you don't have a WML by the end of the class. Ill send you mine and you can use it during the class.

Bring a hand held also as hand held techniques will be used.

With the weather I suspect I'll be wearing gloves, so I'll be practicing that a lot more in the coming months.

I actually have a pair of those for golf and I use them for normal winter gloves too. Might have to take them to the range one day soon to give them a try. First thought is they are too thick but I haven’t had them in since last year, so I may be mistaken.

Picked these up today. I wear L to XL. Bought L because they fit good and I want them snug. Palms are synthetic "suede", backs are spandex. Felt good handling my EDC just now (unloaded). If we get some cold weather I'll see if they are worth the trouble. $20

I have trained with Hackathorn 3 times. He, along with Chuck Taylor were in from the start with Cooper setting up Gunsite. He is indeed one of the driving forces behind Modern Principle. I am proud to call him my friend. Vickers is iceing on the cake. After night firing, sit around and listen to the tales Ken tells. That is worth the tuition. The last time I trained with him he came and stayed 3 days and there were 4 of us. His price per day, plus airfair, plus food , lodging and his ammo, split by 4 of us was some of the best money I ever spent. He and I are the same age and not getting younger. If you are a serious shooter, make this happen. It is something you will remember forever. Billy

I'm in on the training, but have been on the fence about whether I'd get all the benefits at my level. @William {Billy} Bruton 's post above helped reinforce what @Amp Mangum has been telling us. I'll be taking notes so we can tell the stories again till our hearing is gone!

I just hope Ken doesn't call me a communist because I have only one, sissified, blue-gripped, 9mm 1911.

If you show up with a 1911, be prepared to get a 6 foot 3 inch bear hug from Kenny. PLEASE tell him Billy Bruton and Mike McCourry from Conway sent our best wishes.

It CAN'T be sissified if @Amp Mangum has one, too. Plus, I just put some of those blue grips from VZ on an older Colt Government.

Only one week until I get to publicly embarrass myself on the range! Looking forward to it.

I'm really looking forward to this class. It's going to be a great time on the range with Obi-Wan Kenobi and LAV.

Based on the wildly changing weekend forecast over the past three days, it looks like we won't know what the weather is going to do until it does it, just like this past Saturday, which actually turned out pretty good.

I'll be coming prepared for everything.

If it ain't rainin', we ain't trainin'.

Right? lol

I'm putting a tactical ez-up in my range bag just in case.

or, if this was like a professional class or whatever they would offer umbrella holders...

I thought about picking up one of those tents, but the last time I was at Woody's for a class maybe two years ago Boyette had some of those, and the wind twisted them up like pretzels.

I already have my rain gear ready to go. I know if I don't bring it we will get soaked. If its in the bag the sun will shine down on us all weekend. So in the bag it goes.

Take me Lord, I've lived long enough...a "tactical tent".
I think if I had to choose, I'd opt for the tactical umbrella holder. They don't even have to look good.

Any restaurant suggestions near the Holiday in Express in Apex? I will most likely be coming in around dinner time and don't want to drive to far.

There is a great Mexican Restaurant right there 50 yards from the hotel, Los Tres Magueyes. The Tres Magueyes dinner with shrimp, beef and chicken is outstanding.

Apex Wings is 3/4 of a mile up the road your on at the hotel, 55/Williams Street towards town, but that's where we are eating Saturday late afternoon/evening.

My recommendation would be to get on US 1 north and head towards Cary (200 yards from the hotel). Pass he Ten Ten Rd exit then get off at the next exit to the right, Tryon Rd. You'll be in The Containment Area proper and go to Lucky 32, Southern Kitchen right up on the right. Get the shrimp and grits, jumbalaya, or whatever you want. It's a nice place, but folks show up in every manner of dress. It's a little more upscale, but casual.

Perfect thanks for the recommendations. I was looking at the Apex Wins, I love me some wings, but I thought we might be eating there as group. That's why I asked.

Within about a mile in either direction of the hotel on 55/ Williams street there is Bojangles, Arby's, McDonalds, Los Tres, Subway, and various other little food joints. There are some interesting places right in "downtown" Apex which is right up 55/ Williams Street then take a right on Salem Street which is downtown Apex.
