Couple of buddies (they're brothers) are under the knife as we speak playing musical kidneys. Says a lot about them since one would have died without the other volunteering to be harvested to save his brother. Both are good men and as you can tell family comes first no matter what.

My thoughts are with them, and I hope they make a quick recovery unscathed (other than the fact that they'll each only have one kidney now).

Awesome! - nothing better than the gift of life.

Prayers for a successful procedure and speedy recovery.

Lifting them up. [emoji1317][emoji1317][emoji1317]

I have 2 shooting buds both in their early 70's. One only has one working kidney since birth and the other had a transplant about 5 years ago. A lot of follow up healthcare every 6 months for the transplant. Good Luck to both yor buds.

I had a kidney transplant in 2003. It's been working perfectly ever since. If you or they have any questions about what to expect, please don't hesitate to ask me! There are a few things the one with the new kidney needs to know that the docs may not tell him if he doesn't ask.

GrandMa was born with one kidney and has managed to make do for 94 years, although she is on meds to fight infection.
I'll be thinking about your buddies.

Here's hoping that they both have long and healthy lives.

Just now saw this. I saw a reference to it in another thread. Thoughts and prayers outbound for your buddies BOG.

And OP really shouldn't just throw that thread title out there like that. I was like, "Oh, crap! That spider bite dun did him in!"

I certainly hope things go well for the two.

On the brighter side, the donating brother doesn't have to buy the other Xmas, bday, Easter, Columbus Day etc gifts anymore. He can just sit back and say "you're welcome for the kidney, hope you're still enjoying it". Lol

Prayers for them. Some years back my friend who lives in front of me needed a kidney......match came from his daughter. Both have one each now and the bond between them is stronger than ever.

He was responsible for giving her life..........and then she was able to extend his by paying it forward. Ever single time I tell this a speck of dust or dirt gets in my eye....sorry.

One is out and in recovery (the brother donating) the other is in ICU because they are going back in to "reposition" it and they've been dealing with blood clots.

Thanks for the updates..............I really want to follow this through if you don't mind keeping us updated.

And if you do mind.......then do it anyway. I'm older than you.

Will do. I'm getting the updates via texts from Justin's dad and Facebook posts.

Prayers up.
Good that they are watching out for the clotting.
How they both come out fine. No more drinking or fighting for either of them [emoji6]

Just saw this, prayers up. My brother lost one, been running on the other for a decade or so.

Keith woke up about 3ish. Not sure if Brent (another brother) went in and woke him up or not. Lol

ETA: Bill just spoke to Keith on the phone and he said "he's doing great".

Outstanding! Tell him that the best thing he can do now iis get out of bed as soon as he can stand it and walk, walk, walk. The more he walks the faster he heels and the sooner he goes home!
