If youve seen my ok to cry thread and my tree rat thread, you know that we lost my step dad Robert last weekend and are getting a new pup.
Complete opposite ends of the emotional spectrum.
Anyway, this morning Heather called me to tell me something around the farm got to, and killed, a couple of the pups. Alex's pup Storm was one of them.
So, first thing this morning, I had to break the news to my son. When I did, he calmly sits there and processes it.
Then Alex looks up at me and says:

"Well, PawPaw Robert has a new puppy to help him with his cows in Heaven. I hope he likes Storm."

There are onion chopping ninja's hiding in my house somewhere...

Our new pup...little female and she is absolutely the sweetest thing. Loving AND playful.

The ride home was a little stressful for her at first, but she perked up after a bit.

I think little miss is gonna be great for us.
We haven't come up with a name for her yet. We have a couple ideas, but nothing has stuck yet. So far the leader is Lady Bug. Bug for short. Autumn and Angel are next up. What do you guys think would be a good name for this little lady?

The kids liked this...and said Speck for short.
Good suggestion. Keep em coming. We'll decide on one in the next couple days.

Just convince them that Speckles leaves her with a more feminine name for a little lady. ;)

You cannot hide the happiness in those kid's faces. And, that young man's face is going to be frozen with that big ol' grin.

Damnit boi. It's incredible how knowing a child can be

I keep going back and looking at that second picture. It makes me have a big grin, too.

Sorry about the other challenges hopefully things are looking up.

That second picture is a perfect representation of why a boy needs a good dog growing up. Looks like they started off well together. Good luck with the new addtion.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures as they both grow.

I was a little tuckered after work today, so I took a short nap while the wife piddled around before the kids got home from school. I wake up to find this as the wallpaper on my phone lol

The name puddin didn't really stick, so now she's Lady Bug or just plain Lady.
You called it lol

We were calling her Lady for a few days, and Alex asked me if a lot of people named their dogs Lady. I told him yeah, it was pretty common.
Well, she is Leia now. As in Princess Leia. It fits, too. Little bugger prances around the house and yard like she owns the place. Truth be told, she kinda does lol.
The two of them are bestest buds. Its hard to get good pics with the cell phone when they are both bouncing around, but here's a couple of stills I got of them.
She's growing and her body is filling out. We can see the dog she's going to be now.

She looks just like an Australian cattle dog I had minus the brown, I named him Smokey. That dog was coocoo for tenns balls and Frisbees. We did Frisbee competitons.

She's growing into a handsome little lady.
She hasn't taken to the frisbee yet, but tennis balls keep her busy for hours lol
We considered Smoky (well, I did), but Im a Vols fan so that name is reserved for bluetick hounds lol
