I have a knife that I like a lot but do not pick up that much. It has a rubber type ergo handle in cammo and it has started to get very sticky to the touch.
Does anyone know a way to fix this issue??
I had it happen to a pair of large branch loppers once, and just wrapped the handles in tape. I'd rather not go that route on this blade.

Me, personally, I’d cut those rubber stocks off and replace them with wood or canvas micarta.

Got a pic of it?

Copy that, I saw what you did with your Esee. It looked great. I was hoping to avoid the full swap.

Here's a link to the blade.

I have had mine for around 10yrs+/-. So mines a lot older than this type. It's not expensive but I like it.

Most things with "rubber armor" get sticky as well over time. I have a spotting scope and a pair of binoculars that if you handle them, the black rubber comes off all over your hand and does not want to wash off. Not quite as easy on these items as it would be to replace a knife handle.

I've had similar rubber like coatings go sticky like that on optics, radios, etc. I usually use something like 91% alcohol to remove the coating and end up with a smooth hard surface. Other solvents may do better. I avoid those coatings now. They feel great at firsts, but get gooey. For that knife, consider cutting a section of bike inner tube to stretch over the handle after removing the coating. You can pick up free throw aways of various sizes at any bike shop. They're basically big ranger bands.

I've thought about picking one of those Carnivore's up just to throw in the Gator. Wally has them.

Post up some pics of the tang. If it’s doable, I’d put new micarta scales on it for you in exchange for internet points and cost of material (cheap).

Yet another example of why this place is what it is.

@Frack N Cylons Thank You Very Much!! I appreciate the offer.
I am capable of rescaling the knife. I just hoped I could avoid another project right now.
I'll probably do some kind of wood scales unless my brother has some extra micarta he doesn't know he's going to give me.
