I told myself last Friday that I needed to do a post. Now it is Wednesday. Where does the time go? The clinic actually closed last Monday due to the snow, so Jerek was bumped to Tuesday-Friday. Thankfully the 4 days in a row are over. Those make for a long, rough week on him. Cytarabine is the drug he got 4 days in a row. It dropped his counts rather quickly. His hemoglobin was already down to 8.1 on Thursday, requiring him to get 2 units of blood on Friday. This is the first time he has had to get a transfusion since July. He had another lumbar puncture last Wednesday. He has been dealing with a headache ever since then. It’s not nearly as bad as the one he had when he was in the hospital, but it does bother him quite a bit. It seems to be related to the lumbar puncture and gets worse at night. Please pray that this headache will subside soon. He also had quite a bit of nausea, but this seems to be improving. This week is not as demanding. He had chemo on Monday and goes back tomorrow for labs. His platelets were down to 20 on Monday, requiring him to get a platelet transfusion. We won’t be surprised if he needs blood and/or platelets again tomorrow. The cytarabine really takes a toll on him. His last dose of chemo for this course will be Monday. The end is almost here.
River had her 12 month check up on Monday also. She walked right in there like she owned the place. Apparently 12 month olds are not supposed to be 33.5 inches long because they measured her twice. She is way off the growth chart now. She is just trying to keep up with brother. Just in case the days slip past again, we want to thank you all for the continued prayers and support and we wish everyone a very merry Christmas.
