There are many other websites with illustrations showing how to tie even more knots so, with a total,of just 19 knots covered, this is not necessarily “the definitive one” but, it’s a new one to me and actually done quite well. (One of my most painful merit badges so, helpfully this link will help some other young sailor, rock climber or spelunker, haha!)

I almost want to say knot tying is a lost art. Being able to correctly tie half a dozen of the most basic, useful knots is over there with knowing how to drive a stick shift and cursive writing.

After 22 years of Scouting knots are the one thing that has really stayed with me the most. A skill used on a regular basis. I just tried tying a one handed bowline with my laptop power cord and couldn't do it. I will have to look that one up.
ETA, I can write cursive and have owned several manual transmission vehicles, on the tree and on the floor.

I would prefer a class taught by @Chdamn .
His models are so much nicer and willing than the ones your site shows.
Shibari, or Japanese rope bondage, is a time consuming activity but the visual results are spectacular.

A good beginners guide is “Two Knotty Boys: Showing you the ropes”.

Would you mind editing the title so my eye will stop twitching?

I clicked on it thinking I'd find a good resource for my youngest daughter that has gotten into knitting and crochet. Disappointed.

I'm not going to that site.

But thanks anyway.

I taught Technical Rope Rescue, High Angle Rope Rescue and some others. I also ran several highly trained rescue teams. Proper knots are vital. The best teams I worked with only use 4 to 6 different knots total. But they know them well. Can tie them in the dark with gloves on. And no matter how many knots you can tie, it’s worthless if the whole team can’t recognize if it’s tied correctly.

Also the knot you chose is important due to the efficiency. A perfect rope will break first at a bend. So a figure 8 on a bight is about 77-80% efficient. A bowline is about 60%. So this can reduce your ropes breaking strength by as much as 40%.

Just some food for thought
