Kodi build?

You tube it. Lots of videos there that detail how to do it.

And make sure you are running a VPN.

As mentioned above, YouTube. KodiNoLimits on YouTube typically has a great tutorial. Also TopTutorials is excellent and has several tutorials.

lol exactly. I'd do it if I were nearby. Would only take a few minutes to install the new build, and it will detect the old one and keep all the add ons.

My Kodi with Wullies Mini Build is a little long in the tooth. I may reinstall the latest version this weekend if I can get around to it.

I will be doing one this evening with mobdro.

VPN. Nope. Don't think a law exist right now anyhow. Could be wrong on that!!!

A law doesn't exist just yet, but it is coming. I wouldn't want to be the test case and that is why I recommend anyone using a Kodi box to use a VPN.

FYI and FWIW, my understanding is that some of the addons use torrent technology. And torrenting will definitely get you a letter from your internet provider.

How so? They would need to be decoded on the fly and decoding off a partial file. Torrents don't work unless they are completely download then opened. The idea behind kodi is steaming from a server, meaning your not downloading the file. That's why it's not illegal.

Torrent technology has changed since you last looked. Some of the addons are using modern livestream torrent technology. In fact, this is popular for watching live sports - which is the most obvious thing that would have been impossible with old torrent tech.

Your probably right.

I don't stream torrents. I have a several account like ol.

My internet was disconnected from using PopcornTime without a vpn. They even told me what movie it was that got it disconnected. Wife lied and said it must've been kids on the computer so they cut it back on. But now we use vpn when doing movies and tv to avoid this.

PopCornTime is the devil for people using a cable internet service provider (TWC, etc). Still, using a VPN would be wise.

Kodi is getting to be to much for anyone not compelled to keep it up on their own. I am fairly good with computers and kodi is abit silly trying to chase installs amd different builds for me. Curt keep your $$ and go with amazon prime and an OTA. OTA are cheap and work well if you have a tv capable of using one.

A lot of people like Kodi for its interface. Too many people like Kodi for its ability to view pirated content. That chicken will come home to roost soon.

I use an OTA antenna & subscribe to Sling TV, Netflix & Amazon video. I have always been a Netflix & Amazon subscriber, so nothing is any different there.

I still have to buy my home internet from Spectrum (formerly TWC), which I despise, but I'm saving over $125 month not dealing with a full package from Spectrum.

Ymmv.

^^^ @gunbelt, this is good advice.

And maybe add Netflix. Between OTA for news and sports, and Prime and Netflix for movies and tv shows, there is way more content than there is time in the day to watch it all. And you can do this without the tech headaches of dealing with Kodi.

If you don't care about news/sports, then start with Amazon Prime or Netflix or both. If after a few months (no contracts, so you can get in and out as you please), you are wanting more and are willing to deal with more headaches, come back and we can get into Kodi.

Or maybe someone in your area can set you up on Kodi and you'll see firsthand that it's a bit of a headache (not just in setup, but in ongoing use) for people who aren't tech savvy (and even for some of those who are).

Another way to think about this - if you use an iPhone and prefer it to Android phones because it's easy to use, does everything you want and doesn't give you a headache, stick with Prime and/or Netflix. If you love Android phones with all their customizability, rootability, etc., then think about Kodi.

Does anyone who uses OTA tv have a DVR for it and how does it work out for you?
I have a Tablo, it works great and you can add it to a Roku so it streams on TV's not connected to the antenna
