Does anyone have experience with the LaRue MBT-2s trigger? I'm thinking about getting one and wanted to hear opinions on it. They are currently only $87 from larue and I have heard that they compare to a giesselle SSA or SSA-e.

Quality wise they are on par with Gieselle but they are different. I have them installed on 2 of my AR15s. At $87-$99 they are an incredible value but like most "triggers" the feel is unique and lots of subjectivity comes into play determining if it is good or bad. To me no 2 triggers are identical in their characteristics.

They are a good 2 stage trigger and if you like that setup they are excellent but some people hate them. Personally I think that is because some people simply do not like 2 stage triggers vs single stage.

I think the Gieselle is better for precision work. The SSA is like a carrot stick snapping where the SSA-E is more like a candy cane. They LaRue 's carrot is a little more wilted than the SSA IMHO but nothing that changes my groups but I am a shitty shot. :)

The trigger face is a little wider than my Geissele. If you’ve used a CMC flat or curved, the width and feel are somewhat similar; the edges aren’t rounded out like a Geissele.

The pull weight is, on paper, more like an SSA, but in reality it’s a little lighter, so somewhere between an SSA and an SSA-E. Obviously there’s a different feel...different triggers :)

The reset on the MBT is loud and noticeable

$87 is hard to say no to that one

I had a G ssae, loved it. I currently have the larue in my AR that I paid $90. I paid $180 for the ssae. The ssae is a tad nicer feeling, and I mean a tad. Very little difference, and a big financial difference .

With that said, get the larue. I love mine .

I've got one, I can pull it from the gun and let you borrow it if you want, Josh.

Yo...I have the CMC flat on mine now...any reason to try the LaRue? Or is the CMC 'as good as but different....'?

My only LaRue with the included stronger trigger spring goes to 5.5lbs as is a very nice trigger for a SD or field carbine ... that extra 2lbs added to the pull is not that noticeable to me unless I’m trying to make real small groups on paper but steel rings nicely. Their machining and polishing are excellent ... and Cracken said dollar wise is a strong deal.

I'm a big fan of the MBT. I have them in 2 rifles and think they're an awesome value.

LaRue....I made a set of dentures for Lash LaRue when he was in his 80s. Off topic....but true.

My Dad grew up in Sanford NC and after he passed my uncle told me Lash Larue was born in Sanford NC and him and my dad were childhood friends. Don't know if true but interesting.

On topic this fall the wife and I are going to build two Ar pistols from stripped lowers and im buying 2 of these triggers. The reviews I have read were really positive.

I ordered two of them for two of mine, I'm just waiting to get them.......

I am in the process of building a 458 Socom and after a good bit of parts shopping and research I am going to go with the MBT on this build.

I honestly hate a 2 stage trigger on the rifles I shoot in matches, or any time I need to shoot fast, I do have a flat faced 2 stage Geissele (I don’t remember which model it is) in my 308 AR and I find I shoot a 2 stage trigger much better than a single stage when I am shooting groups.

After everything I have read I need to give this trigger a try, other than some people saying the reset feedback is a bit “mushy”, the trigger seems rival the Geissele trigger at twice the price.

Now I just need more money lmao!!

I just finished a 2-day carbine class. My instructor has the LaRue MBT-2 on his Daniel Defense rifle. He highly recommends it.
I have a Rock River Arms 2-stage Match trigger on my Lauer lower/BCM upper rifle. I’ve been happy with that set-up. I’ve always been able to shoot small groups with that trigger. I’ll admit I’ve felt better triggers, but not for less than $150. FYI the RRA 2-stage NM trigger is on sale now for $100.
At the end of the class, we had a chance to shoot each other’s rifles. Most of the rifles were new and had standard mil-spec triggers, which sucked, of course. Comparing the RRA and LaRue triggers, the RRA was crisper, but seemed to have a slightly heavier pull than the LaRue. Discussing the triggers with another participant, we both liked the RRA best.

I’ve tried the MBT in a couple of friends rifles, but prefer the Rock River too. Right To Bear has the RRA NM and Varmint versions on sale every few weeks for $79. I bought 2 of the Varmint Triggers a couple weeks ago.

I have one of the LaRue triggers just waiting to install it......word of caution about the RRA two stage they have had some issues with them....I had one that wouldn't let the bolt fully cycle if you held the trigger back when firing.....sent it in to RRA they tagged it as DANGER DO NOT USE but only offered to sell me a new one at a reduced rate.....not a problem you will have with a LaRue part.
